Once again, for the final time before I switched recording setups--half the audio is missing. Use your imaginations to supply the other half of this epic battle with Vona the butcher of Magan as another boss fight gets butchered in recording, while I tear out my fucking hair.

Tristan writes a strongly worded letter to youtube, Tristan bangs his head against the table, and Tristan laments the fact that this just. keeps. happening.

All these precious memories lost, like tears in the rain.

here are my notes from that session:

    Vona’s Hunger

If the PCs fight Vona, they’ve got a rough time ahead. Vona has the Mobile feat. Meaning she won’t proc oppo from moving if she attacked you this turn.

Half way through the fight: she removes her outer heavier armor to reveal a lighter gambeson underneath. CLANG. BONG. CLANG.

The armor is extra heavy, like the weights goku trained with. This signifies her removing her power limiters. After this she moves so fast she appears to teleport, attacking any enemies at will all across the battlefield.

She also has a third phase. Where she breaks her blood fast with a blood vial to go ultra instinct BEAST MODE.

Each phase uses the vampire statblock, with resistance to all damage; resetting to full health as each phase begins.

Her attacks crit on a 19 or 20. If she crits, you must make a dc 15 con save or be slain instantly.

Marvin is there. Use vampire statblock with clerical healing spells.

Top of each round, make a ship check to avoid being boarded by more vamps or taking cannonfire.

Loot drops: if she's losing and marvin is still around, he’ll try and retreat with her. If not, she drops the Heartseeker rapier.

Engaging her ship, she will use her vampiric flight to board the mean streak along with some bloodsucking backup. From there you’ll have to battle on two fronts: ship cannons and armed melee combat.

Griselbrand is here. Fleeing from Vona the vampire conquistador, the the party stopped to loot a sinking ship and found a magic scroll that released the aforementioned powerful demon. Ubbe was the one who held the scroll, so the demon offered him a Wish. But Ubbe has only ever wished for one thing in life, and that is to slay demons. It seemed the friends of ravnica had a fight on their hands...

Ubbe surprises everyone, Kambal owes Gabriel a favor, and Louise kills god.

Apologies, as this is another partial episode. I thought I could save space on my computer by streaming sessions and recoding those later, but it's just not worth the hassle. Audacity is free. Just record the audio. Even a cheap laptop can handle a decent amount of episodes.

Thankfully nothing crazy happens in this one. The party mainly debates where to go next, goes over their accomplishments so far, and plots their course on the map.

As has become commonplace at this point, The episode where the party has a climactic boss battle that is cut short by technical difficulties. At this point I shouldn't be surprised. At least we got a few minutes of action out of it.

The party jumps into a surprise encounter with the Sundering Titan, little Mirrodin's erstwhile guardian who roams the razorfield plains at its heart. The towering metal giant sustained many heavy blows from the party before initiating a booming verbal countdown.

    ...TEEEENNNNNNN...

    ...NIIIIIINNNNNE...
And the party redoubled their efforts to smote the beast before it completed its dread ignition sequence. Thankfully, with a few well timed shots to its exposed power core, the group brought down the metal giant and were able to claim the final piece of the missing memories scattered about this land.
The memory depicted a calm scene, showing the same flying ship they'd seen earlier trawling above the clouds. It housed a diverse crew, including many humans but also a goblin, minotaur and a catfolk. A debonair looking corsair turned to look at the POV of the memory and asked
"You all right, Karn?" in an easygoing, companionable way.

With the name of the memories' owner now in their possession, the group returned to the darksteel tower where golos and Sad Robot, or Karn, still waited.
Restoring the memories to Karn, definition began to return to his features and his body became more silvery. He stood tall before the group, whole once again. And then he killed Golos.
He then explained to the shocked and horrified party that Golos was not their friend, nor his--but a sinister automaton created by a mad wizard named Memnarch from the past, who sought to return to life by taking control of karn's abilities.
With Karn at their side, the group watched as he shrank the invasive quicksilver landscape of Mycosynth down to just the imported landmass here--which Azor had stolen from Mirrodin. Now the particles of this other plane would not try to expand and infect the rest of this world. He also shrank the darksteel tower down into a portable token, which Vali recognized as his lost Instant Fortress.

Karn was a powerful ally. And they would need those, if they were to find and defeat Azor, master of this plane and expat of theirs.

Our heroes have met Golos, a travelling golem who collects data about other planes. He's asked them to help his friend, a nameless and faceless automaton known only as Sad Robot. This robot is lacking five key memories that have been scattered around this metallic area fenced off within Azor's prison plane of Ixalan. With each memory collected, a picture of who Sad Robot actually was becomes clearer. But the question is, should our heroes be helping this person? Or would the world be better off without them...

Louis changes her name to Louise, Alpha tackles an ethical conundrum, and Vali looks on and laughs.

Our heroes have arrived at a portion of the sea bordered by a curtain, like a sea-level aurora borealis. And whose waves have been transmuted into quicksilver. Passing through the curtain, they found that all organic matter (including their own bodies) automatically changed into robotic equivalents. This strange sea was home to a land of metal monstrosities and technology masquerading as nature. And at the center of the alien landscape: a tower overseeing all, guarded by a titanic metal giant who tore through the landscape as easily as a horse-drawn plow.

Johnny doesn't like to shake hands, Louis has a field day, and Vali grows concerned for Bruna's mental health.

The gang enters the second phase of their fight with Hogaak as he emerges from beneath the earth, an endless mountain of corpses.

Zihoni the szithis cultist declares "I cannot be killed!" as he merges with Hogaak Akira/evangelion style. The party has numbers on their side for now, but how long will that last--as each round one of their allies is called away to help the rest of Huatli's forces across the mine?

Gabriel trusts the word of an old friend, Louis starts blastin', and Ubbe strikes true.

After a quick roundup of any last minute preparations, the party believes they have one day left to rest and prepare. But as they and the soldiers are relaxing in the tropical sunset, they feel a rumbling from beneath the earth. Any who are willing and able to make a high perception check can hear the sounds of distorted golgari-like chanting on the wind. Though it bears as much resemblance to traditional golgari chanting as esperanto does to spanish.  zihoni and his horde of szithis zealots are performing a ritual to unseal hogaak. It seems the battle has come to their doorstep a day early.

Gabriel casts a shit-ton of auras, Alpha casts a shit-ton of auras, and Ubbe gets a shit-ton of auras cast on him.

As has become customary for this podcast, I am cursed to lose recordings of memorable boss fights. In this case, the party had a terrifying rematch with the lesser Eldrazi titan "It That Betrays" at the heart of the hedron temple. At the same time, they released a greater elemental who was trapped there, which was lucky as "Omnath" then aided them in the battle, which was very satisfying this go-round and involved zero frogs.

The party returns to the strip mine and are met by some of their griffin riders, who have been lent some pterodactyls by huatli. When pressed, she reveals that some sun empire soldiers are “helping” on their ship.

sinead  the serra ascendant monk went back to the party's ship. Jace decided her behavior was “inconvenient” and “suggested” she be more accommodating. She began acting all wandavision with her son, Nemo.

Some cultists took up residence, led by a deathrite shaman and his grave troll muscle. He offered to solve the party's problem for them (hogaak will emerge and decimate the land, but not in a way that inconveniences you). He leaned on the fact that he is from ravnica, and a disciple of szithis, a prophet from many eons ago. What could this mean? Evidently, time being screwy in this dimension provides unforeseen complications for the party's timeline.

Spurred to find the power to defeat the evil beneath the earth at the strip mine, our heroes seek the hidden treasure within the floating island nearby. Ubbe explored its surface and found a massive skull, which he peered inside--only to be surprised by a crowd of patchwork golem scarecrows. It seemed this island concealed a great deal more artifice and magic than initially assumed. Let's see if our heroes can survive.

Ubbe takes the lead, Vali almost dies, and Jerrick grows too curious for his own good.
