Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett

The NFL has suspended Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett indefinitely -- and at least for the rest of the season -- for ripping the opposing quarterback's helmet off his head and hitting him with it in Thursday night's game with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Garrett's minimum suspension, announced Friday, puts him out for six regular season games and any playoff games this year. 

The six games alone would make it one of the longest suspensions for on-field incidents in NFL history.

Garrett showed remorse in a statement Friday, saying: "I made a terrible mistake."

"I lost my cool and what I did was selfish and unacceptable," Garrett's statement reads. "I know that we are all responsible for our actions and I can only prove my true character through my actions moving forward.

"I want to apologize to Mason Rudolph, my teammates, our entire organization, our fans and to the NFL. I know I have to be accountable for what happened, learn from my mistake and I fully intend to do so."

That's 17,800 kilometres. The flight lasted for 19 hours and 19 minutes.

More Canadians renting for a decade or more before buying first home: CMHC survey

The road to homeownership is a long one for some Canadians, a new report from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation suggests.

Thirty-one per cent of recent first-time buyers surveyed by the federal housing agency said they rented a home for a decade or more before buying a property.

And the portion of those who delayed making a purchase is on the rise — this year’s figure represents an increase of nine percentage points over last year.

Another case of severe lung illness related to vaping confirmed in Canada

Quebec's Health Department is confirming the province's third case of severe lung illness related to vaping.

They’re saying the person who fell ill consumed a legal nicotine vaping product, as did the two other Quebecers, both from Montreal, who developed severe lung illness related to vaping.

Federal health authorities reported an additional five probable cases of severe lung illness related to vaping across the country: two in New Brunswick and three here in B.C.

This all comes as our provincial government plans to hike the tax on vaping products from seven per cent to twenty per cent.

We’re already hearing resistance to that, from one Vancouver vape shop owner who says the tax meant to deter teenagers may discourage her adult customers.

Transit strike: latest travel information as disruption hits Translink’s bus network

Expect delays on the buses and SkyTrain may be more busy than usual today. The Metro Vancouver transit strike continues, and there is an escalation.

Bus drivers are refusing overtime. TransLink says that means bus service will be reduced by about 10 percent today. Further reductions are expected next week. No new talks are planned.

Longtime friend and ally of President Donald Trump, Roger Stone, may spend the rest of his life in prison.

He's been found guilty on all counts of lying to Congress and witness tampering at his trial in federal court in Washington.

He was charged in a seven-count indictment that alleged he lied to lawmakers about WikiLeaks, tampered with witnesses and obstructed a House intelligence committee probe.

His trial highlighted how Trump campaign associates were eager to gather information about emails hacked emails damaging to Hillary Clinton.
