Chapter 1: A bizarre story out of Michigan where 13 people have been arrested for, among other things, allegedly planning to kidnap the governor and incite a civil war.

Chapter 2: Ontario wasn’t alone in reporting their highest number of new cases ever yesterday, the World Health Organization reported it was the most new infections reported in one day globally as well. European countries are struggling to get a handle on this too, Shane Woodford used to work here at CKNW but he’s a freelancer in Denmark now, he joins us with more.

Chapter 4: Amanda Todd’s death was a wakeup call for Canadians who didn’t understand the extent that cyberbullying can harm kids. A new film documenting the harm kids are suffering and exploring ways of mitigating the risk was just released yesterday on World Mental Health Day.

Chapter 5: Council unanimously approved a massive $30m housing action plan last night.  Fiona York is a longtime advocate for people experiencing homelessness in Vancouver, she joins us now to talk about what last night’s decision entails.

Chapter 6: There’s a ton of Vancouver Whitecaps facemasks out there but you may not have realized they raised a ton of money for the Vancouver Aquarium selling them.  Mackenzie Neale is the Director of Animal care at the aquarium and she’s on the phone with us to talk about a new collaboration involving one of the most adorable little residents of the centre.

Chapter 1: A more measured debate last night between US vice-presidential candidates Republican Mike Pence and Democrat Kamala Harris.

Chapter 2: We’ve recovered a ton of the jobs that were lost at the beginning of the pandemic, but it’s going to be harder to recover a lot of the jobs that haven’t returned yet.  The September Labour Force Survey will come out tomorrow morning and shed more light on where we’re at, Indeed Hiring Lab economist Brendon Bernard joins us with a preview.

Chapter 5: Vancouver city council will hold a special meeting this morning at 9:30, and they’re going to be voting on whether to spend $30 million acquiring housing to address homelessness.
