Chapter 1: A new report from Deloitte pulls from the recessions in 1990 and 2008 to look at what the lasting impact of the pandemic will be on the people who were hit the hardest. Matt Laberge is the senior manager of economic advisory at Deloitte Canada and he joins me now to talk about what they found.

Chapter 2: Part of the federal government's aggressive plan to welcome over 300,000 new immigrants to Canada every year is due to our consistently declining birthrate, and experts are concerned that the pandemic will make things even worse.

Chapter 3: The list of signatures is growing on an online petition that demands the province make back-to-school optional this fall.

Chapter 4: We’ve been talking about vaccine development for COVID-19 for MONTHS, but how will it be received once people can actually get it? Some worrisome results from polling done on this by the Angus Reid Institute.

Chapter 5: It’s been nothing but bad news from Strathcona Park lately where over 300 tents are housing a lot of the people who were evicted from Oppenheimer Park in early May.
But advocates say the park's residents are left without any alternatives and the park has become a last resort for so many people who have fallen through the cracks.
Guest: Fiona York, coordinator with the Carnegie Community Action Project and a tenant support worker with the Lookout Emergency Aid Society.
Chapter 6: The TransMountain Pipeline expansion is being called into question after an entire month where no oil tankers filled up at the terminal in Burnaby. 19 vessels filled up on crude oil at the terminal in the first 6 months of the year, but a professor at Simon Fraser University wants the federal government to reassess the financial viability of the project in light of the unused capacity with just a single line in place.
