A smart contemporary romance, with deep characters

Meddling mothers might just be the biggest thing that chief Lia Mantovani and real estate mogul Adam Kelly have in common. The two mothers decided to trick Lia into cooking an marvelous, authentic Italian dinner for Mrs. Kelly and her boys. They hoped that Lia would find a love match with one of the Kelly boys. After meeting Lia and trying her amazing cooking, Adam isn't sure which he like more her flavorful food or her sexy body. Sparks fly between these two from the very beginning. To get away from the prying eyes of their family, they decide to escape on the Kelly family boat. Then things escalate quickly, until the two are interrupted by passerby.

Adam's having one heck of a week. He meets this amazingly interesting women, while also working on a deal to bring world famous chef, Amadeus Schlittler, into one of his Chicago properties. I picked up this book expecting a light hearted, run-of-the-mill contemporary romance, but this book was anything but cookie cutter! Although this was a short audiobook, the author took the time to create rich characters and storylines that hooked me in. I fell in love with Lia and Adam right off the bat, and their chemistry heated up my headphones. I liked how Adam was this confident, powerful male, but he didn't feel the need to control Lia. And I love how Lia had so much passion for her cooking, that she wouldn't let anyone get in the way. Both characters made mistkes, but over all they were good people. I loved how both characters were smart, talented, driven, and family oriented. From the outside they seemed so different, but underneath it all they were very similar. They both went about doing things in very different ways, which lead to many of their misunderstandings and miscommunications.

Love this series

Enjoyed the start to this series and look forward to hearing the next one. I like the narrator's voice.

The story brought me back to my uni days... great memories!

Boring

The narrator was not very good. She doesn't pronounce all of her words clearly and she runs them together sometimes. The writing is immature and the story is boring.

Who picks the readers? Awful

I keep hoping the books will be so good I can ignore the readers chosen for the stories. More often than not I get why Kindle/Audible offer $1.99 add on for the Audible portion. This reader is one of the worst I have ever heard. There have to be more actors out there that could actually read the book without a staccato style and blah voice.

I couldn't care less what the book was about, I had to stop listening to it. I guess I get to add this one back to my reading list only.

Terrible narrator

I received this book from a Facebook party so thankfully I didn't waste any money on it. I couldn't make it past the third chapter. The story was boring and the Narrator was awful. I listen to a lot of audio books and I'm not sure how this girl got the job. Listen to the sample if there is one and you will see what I mean. I have no words to explain just how bad this is. I might look into the ebook but I doubt it. Ugh, bums me out I wanted another good sports book like The Deal.

This story is unbelievable. I stopped listening at the third chapter. I would return if not for the sale I purchased it from.

Cold Sex - No Personality

I might have liked Anna (the masseuse) if she was more mature and less wimpy. When Anna met Alec (cold macho man), she agreed to a sexual relationship with no strings. Alec shared nothing except his bodily fluids and kept disappearing without explanations.

I lost interest before the half way mark, due to a total lack of character development and dispassionate sex scenes. Alec professed to "care" for Anna while acting bossy and condescending, then started hitting Anna as "punishment" for her lack of faith in him.

Anna thought that good orgasms equaled to an emotional connection; if Alec is f**king me, then he must love me. Really? Anna needed therapy to grow a backbone and develop self-respect. I couldn't be bothered listening to the rest - life is too short!

MUCH MUCH MORE THAN JUST A BITTER-SWEET ROMANCE

Anna had a lot of childhood baggage which means she's never in the same State for long - she's strong and loving but on the inside she's vulnerable and damaged but now she's trying to settle in Florida where her best friend lives. Anna's job as a Masseuse lands her a home visit job for a ruthlessTycoon but once there she meets the sexy, mysterious and gorgeous Alec and he will turn her world upside down..... because their sexual chemistry wasn't just sizzling it was flammable, combustible and dangerous for them both. Although he was passionate, tender and oh so sexy, there were a lot if secrets, mysterious phone calls and a redhead that kept popping up but the more Anna pushed for answers the more Alec pulled away.

The characters had me at the first Chapter, then came the passion, lust and sex which further drew me in but what kept me totally enthralled was the intrigue because there were a lot of suspicious activities and secrets that needed to be answered. And when they all came together in one climactic heart-pounding reveal the fallout was catastrophic, heartbreaking and deadly..... with some shocking twists, suspense and it leaves a beautiful love story that is damaged but thankfully not broken.....

What made the experience of listening to Smoldering the most enjoyable?

From beginning to the end, it has been one hell of a ride. Love how smooths the storyline is. The cries, the laughter and the romance speaks volume.

WHAT AN EMOTIONAL, PAINFUL & ROMANTIC LOVE STORY

A truly lovely romance..... Kelsey who ran away from all she knew - her fiancée, her family, her planned future and her money and became a night-shift Waitress but she's happy..... Because she saved her sanity and her heart. One night, after a very long day at work, a handsome sexy Warrant Officer called Riley walks into the Diner and Kelsey's life will never be the same.

They start flirting and it's not long before their mutual attraction and obvious chemistry gives way to romance, passion, sex and love. Kelsey doesn't share much of her dysfunctional past with Riley who comes from a loving, close and supportive family but when he takes Kelsey home to meet his parents the do-dah hits the fan when someone from her past verbally and viciously taunts her and gets his revenge which ends in sorrow, heartbreak and regrets. Broken lives, broken dreams and two broken hearts (sniff sniff).

One of the saddest, most bitter, pain-filled, heartbreaking and raw break-ups I've ever ever heard (it made me want to drown my sorrows for each of them in a big tub of something frozen, tasty and deliciously fattening). But time's a great healer so eventually, after a long and hurt-filled separation, they try to make things work...... before it's too late and he gets deployed overseas for 9 long months.

Told from Kelsey's POV but the narrator.... tut tut, IMHO, nearly ruined it for me, she sounds too young, I sometimes didn't know if she was actually speaking it or just thinking it and there wasn't much difference between Kelsey and Riley's voices.

Worth a credit? The plot was so strong that, despite the narration, it carried the story nicely along and was a very creditworthy and enjoyable listen.

Love Letters by Bryan Mooney

I read this book and couldn't put it down. I recommended this to my family and friends who in turn told several others to enjoy the story, which we all loved and will recommend the book to others.

This entertaining story of Love Letters show a side of passion, love and an open heart. One whom on can share life in a true sense, entwined with each other. A relationship based on love, trust, feelings and total openness. It is something most of us would love to find and have in one another, in our relationships.

The story tells of many tragedies , until the story unfolds and you are drawn into the saga of love and family and how one survives under such conditions. What makes one hold onto life so dear, that when life turns one can endure and come out together, true love prevails.

Thank you for an engaging, terrific and relaxing book.

I just bought Bryan Mooney's next book and can't wait to see the tale he has woven to pull me in with his characters.

I liked the suspense mixed with love, kindness and romance. Light on violence. Nicely captivating, animals included. I rate this 5 stars as I'd read again.

Eric & Velaney!

This was an amazing follow up to Spark! Eric and Velaney's story is one to go down in history! I am in awe of Velaney's strong character with what she has been through and continues to go through! Eric is determined to not give up on his woman and in this story he will make any woman ask "where do I find a man like him?!" Absolutely loved their story full of all kinds of obstacles! Brooke Cumberland continues to bring us her best!

No Spark for Me

This book picked up immediately were the first left off, and unfortunately it continued with the lies and lack of trust. I jjst cant understand the heroine. I cant connect with her. I enjoyed the first half of the book which, by the way, was much hotter than book one since the heroine no longer carries her v card. Then a new obstacle is dropped but the twist is just frustrating. I don't see the personal growth in the character. Despite my complaints, the book was written technically well. And it got better again by the end. If we just skipped the over flowery epilogue.

This book picked up immediately were the first left off, with Eric and Velaney on the airplane. I almost stopped reading after the 1st page because I was so frustrated that Velaney was going to continue keeping ridiculous secrets from Eric like she did in the first book. However, I talked myself into continuing.

In BURN we get to watch the relationship between Eric and Velaney grow much deeper. We get to meet Eric's family and we get to learn a lot about Eric's past. I really enjoyed the first half of this book which was much spicier than book #1 (now that Velaney is no longer a, "virgin", the sex scenes are more frequent and much more creative). Unfortunately, just when the story was really getting good, Ms. Cumberland decided that the story needed a dramatic event to rock what was an ideal, beautiful love story. So, at about 50% into the book, like in the first book, Velaney again decides that she needs to do what she thinks is best for Eric, making stupid, irrational, RIDICULOUS decisions.

Love Paul & Friday!

Love Paul and Friday! Everything about this was so right, would of been better if his ex was never mentioned lol, but glad everything turned out right for Paul and Friday!

Paul and Friday's story is fantastic

Paul Reed is the brother who has been at the helm of the Reed brother's family since his mother died and his father left. He has been the responsible one, since he became an adult. Now it is finally time for him to follow his heart as well.

Friday has been working at Reed's for the last four years. Until recently Paul has kept his distance but things have changed. The harder he pushes her, the more she pushes back. Will he break through her walls and let him be with her?

I absolutely love Tammy Falkner's Reed Brother Series. From book one, she has written fantastic stand-alone books that intricately weave multiple story lines throughout the series. I have known about Paul and Friday for some time, but to read their story is phenomenal. It is filled with laughter, love and chemistry like no other. It filled my heart and created beautiful memories for me as a reader.

PS - Christy Wurzbach does an excellent job of narrating this story. She only enhances Tammy's brilliance as an author. She brings the story to life and brings it to a whole new dimension.

I would have enjoyed Proving Paul's Promise more with a male narrators performing Paul. With one narrator performing both Paul and Friday it gets confusing.

Entertaining series, lov the boys!

Good books. Like the narrator voice, however, had a little trouble how to identify which character is talking or when is thinking. Overall, good story, good narrator. I will complete the series. bought all the previous books already!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I literally had tears in my eyes and I could not, repeat COULD NOT put it down. This book has touched my heart in more ways than one and I can't believe that their story was so beautiful! This is my favorite book out of the entire series and I am so glad I picked it up.

First off Garrett Mathews, let me just say now we all know where Gunner got his romance from. Words can't be said enough on how wonderful this man is. He's charming, sweet, romantic, everything that any woman could possibly want!! He is just....words can't be described!

Second, Emma Rose... Sweet, innocent, kind, a little naughty (Kind of like me, but we won't go there) ;)

She is amazing. I think her innocence and love for Garrett is what made this story even better, but especially her love for Garrett. I am so glad that Kelly wrote this amazing story about Gram and Gramps and gave us all a glimpse into their story. I've said this before, this is my favorite book by her to date!! <3

Everyone Needs A Forever Love

WOW, OMG there are really no words to express what this book really is. Kelly Elliott has given us some wonderful books from her Wanted Series and also the Broken Series. With A FOREVER LOVE this book brings The Wanted Series Full Circle. This is where it all began with Garrett ( Gramps) and Emma ( Grams). We see where all of the Swoon Worthy things Gunner gave us in the first book. Gramps has thought all the guys well. Garrett walked into the drug store one day met up with friends and Emma was there sitting with her Cousin Margie, one of Garrett's best friends. Garrett knew the minute he laid eyes on Emma she was his Destiny. Emma was smitten when their eyes first met. Garrett finds he may have to fight for what he wants as his friend ( like a brother) Billy likes Emma too. Boy a love triangle they have, but really Billy is fighting his feelings for Margie. Emma doesn't make it easy on Garrett, when he is ready to give up because really how many times can a guy take the word NO. Margie finally gets Emma to see her way of pushing the one person that ignites her in no other way. So she goes and claim what should have been hers months ago. Garrett and Emma have a whirl wind Love that is like Nothing that can be described. They have their up's and down's but in the end it's what makes and EVERLASTING and FOREVER LOVE. I have to say this author really makes you feel like you are back in the 50's and 60's the era where Emma and Garrett start their story. If I could give this story more then the 5 stars, this book would rates at least 20 star's to me.
