What a delightful find all 3 of this series in a bundle at a great price and it looks like the next 6 books have a bundle as well. This box-set has been a delight from the first book to the last. I would have to say book 3 is my favorite at this time. Each book are standalones but to get the full impact you may want to read/listen to them in order. Each book have their own issues with pain, sorrow, hurt, learning, getting over, starting over, drugs, abuse, starting over, standing on your own two feet, and a few ladies of the night. For me so far each book is better than the last.

This narrator is one very talented person giving a compelling listen with such passion you can feel through her voice. She really brings these audio to life giving you a highly entertaining read. She puts such emotion into the audio you can feel the pain, sorrow, sadness, joy, happiness through her tones. Her performance is outstanding as she pulls you in taking you way through the excitement and danger that comes. I love her many different voices from her sexy strong males to her sassy strong women. She pulls deep inside herself giving you a compelling listen that will leave you chuckling and at times laughing. She knows how to hit the correct tones really keeping the listener invested as they wait for the next shoe to drop. There are not any background noises and no breaks were taken that I could tell. You can picture the story unfold through her voice and her tones. You have no trouble knowing who is talking or what they are feeling. What this narrator brings to the table is a very clean, crisp, clear audio you get lost in. I just love to be taken away by this very talented narrator. I can hardly wait for the next listen.

Clever Story Telling Technique

Every few years a new wave of storytelling washes in. We've read paranormal romances; dystopian fare; and the John Green first person angsty influence. Publishing houses are now looking for something a little different and this fits the bill. Instead of hearing from our main characters, at least 10 narrators (I lost count) tell the story of Gabe and Lea, two college students destined for a relationship. They never speak directly to each other.

It's a little confusing at first to keep track, but you can see why they were chosen. To move the couple around campus, you needed the waitress, Starbucks barista, bus driver, teacher, and friends. A few could have been cut out, for example the squirrel. Yes, I did say squirrel.

While this book didn't blow me away story-wise and I wasn't completely invested in why Lea and Gabe were a good fit, I was impressed with Hall's technique. Clever idea and an interesting read just to see how she pulls it off. Be on the lookout for more like this, especially third person POVs.

It IS different and an enjoyable listen

What did you like best about A Little Something Different? What did you like least?

A Little Something Different lives up to its name. A romance told from everyone's point of view EXCEPT the two involved in the romance was different enough for me to give it a try. I don't know that it necessarily worked for me. The writing is crisp and the characters interesting, but I just never felt invested in Gabe and Lea's relationship. I couldn't even figure out why anyone else, other than the best friend and brother, cared either. Maybe it's because I never got their point of view, that I never really connected with either of them.

And while neither Gabe nor Lea is particularly all that likeable, the rest of the cast, those who narrate the story of Gabe and Lea, were so interesting, I couldn't help but continue on. I listened to the audiobook and it's narrated by two different voiceover actors. I thought Will Damron did a great job. He had a wonderful way of inflecting the different personalities into each of his characters. But Amy Rubinate sounded the same with every point of view.

Good Book

Would you listen to His Unexpected Lover again? Why?

I would listen to this again if I had no other books to hear. I enjoyed this a lot. I recommend it as a nice story to listen to on a Saturday evening.

Yummy smexy read!!!

I really dig this series. It is great seeing all the brothers find love, pretty much at the same time!! This book is a reunited lovers trope, love that!!!! We get a flashback to college days and just meeting. Mix in a little of them together, and wham the big break up! Fast forward to the present again.

I adore sassy Kiera, she totally stands up for herself. There are many times I wanted to smack clueless Axel in the head. Hello, she is not a wimp, she can handle business!! Once he started having faith in her abilities, he won me over.

Little bit of yummy smexy time. Open bedroom door but not full erotic detail. Plenty of steam though to warm a reader up! For a short read you do get a few helpings of scrumptious smexing!

The narrative is mixed, and good thing for that, cause without hearing Axel's thought process you might think he is a chauvinistic jerk. No, he is just a touch clueless and self absorbed. Kiera will break him of that! Again, we have a few stray POV from the supporting cast, a little less jumpy, but it takes you out of the moment.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Viv Williams, who is a delight! I love her energy and the sassy tone she gives Kiera. Her pace is swift and steady, love that! All the voices stayed consistent and distinct. She does a fabulous job of keeping it clear who is in charge of the narrative. This is something she excels at! Terrific read all around!

I am ready to see what happens in the next book!! Will it be Riker and Cricket or Xander and Autumn. I hope they release in audio soon!!!

Predictable formula romance.

It's nicely written and gorgeously read by Amanda Ronconi. In fact, I only downloaded the audio because of Ms. Ronconi. She must have been having a dry spell at the time. Normally, she chooses better.

If you've ever read any modern paperbacks, then you already know this story. It's set in a small town on a small island in Georgia and that was fun - or would have been if there had been any references to island living at all. There were also cupcakes and that was fun too. Who doesn't like cupcakes? (other than that cake guy on TV)

As for the rest - I found myself thinking: come on! how much more can we talk about this relationship? This is not junior high! And I kept hoping for a dead body to enliven the plot.

So - decide for yourselves. It's an excellent example of what it is.

Oh, another thing. I like series listening. On second look though, the island town is all that really seems to string this series of books together.

What did you like best about this story?

I actually loved Baxter! I loved that he was so unsure of himself when it came to Lani. Their kisses were toe curling cause they gave me the best first-kiss squee feeling!

Which scene was your favorite?

Definitely the first kiss between Lani and Baxter...I simply adored Baxter's ramblings and the shock from Lani...finally getting something she had wanted for so long, and it was just wrong timing!

This was my first book from Donna Kauffman, and I really enjoyed it! I though the narrator did a phenomenal job with the voice of Baxter (English accent), and the story was just read so well!

Sweet

I held off on the series due to other reviews. Mistake! I really enjoyed the book. Lani was strong, modern and fun. Chef Hot Cakes was complex and real. I could see Sugarberry in my mind and all the characters in it. Now I have purchased the whole series.

Amanda was a superb narrator, as always. I wish she narrated more!

Love Donna Kauffman's writing usually, but . . .

Horribly unlikeable character

Right from the start this book rubbed me the wrong way. It went on and on about her "trailer trash" upbringing. It got down right offensive. Oh the horror of having to grow up with fake wood paneling.

But even if you could overlook that, you are still left with the over the top "man eater" type character who prefers one night stands to chocolate cake.

I tried really hard to listen. Normally I love Jill Shalvis books, especially the Lucky Harbor series but this one is so over the top it made my stomach turn. By chapter 3 I realized that my time is far to valuable and I like myself to much to continue to put myself through listening to one more minute of this offensive crap. And really I know that sounds harsh but it really was crap.

Good story, narration not good

An audiobook needs a good narrator. This one lacks something. It's hard to tell the mood of the characters when she doesn't change her tone. I would have enjoyed this story so much more with a better narrator.

OMG!!! This was an amazing book

This is my first book by Anita Mills and I am completely taken by her style of writing. There was only one sex scene in this book and even that was so quick I doubted if it actually happened. BUT it is not anything I missed really. The story expresses so much emotion already that I, as the reader, felt one with the characters and without knowing it. You can get swept away into this wonderful romance and open doors into another world and time. I truly enjoyed this book. A must have.

What a lovely tale!

Although it seemed as if heartbreak and tragedy would rule their lives forever, the Duke of Roksbury and his Duchess found their sweet, happy ever after! I was glad Lord Barresford and Charlotte ended up together too! This really was a very sweet romance. Im glad I bought and listened to Ms. Mills story.

Wedding Bells!

This is a fun, laugh out loud story about the best and worst kept secret in Texas! Maddie, Ruby, Scarlett and the rest of the Gallagher clan plan two weddings while trying to keep the secret from each bride. The grooms find out, however one of them is more than a little hesitant at the deception. Funny scenarios and antics prevail and it is wonderful to have everyone together in one book. Really liked this one, looking forward to the next

Would you consider the audio edition of Branded to be better than the print version?

Since I didn't read the print version, I guess I can't really answer. However I use audio because I don't have time to sit down with the print, and I can listen while doing other things. That being said I really enjoyed the audio version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Branded?

I think answering this question in any detail would be a bit of a spoiler, so I will just say, I think I could actually feel Mac's trepidation of the intrusion during the pool scene.

Which character as performed by Kaleo Griffith was your favorite?

Kaleo Griffith did a fine job with the characters in my opinion, not sure I can pick a favorite, but the voices lent did add some character to the characters for me.

I love a bit of mystery with my romance, and I found this one intriguing. I am looking forward to the rest of this series. The only complaint I have (and it is just a small annoyance) is that the scene changes happened so quickly that I felt like they were spliced together.

Good premise for a story but fell a little short

While I enjoyed the story and was reasonably entertained, it seemed a bit rushed and undeveloped. The relationship between Mac and Deacon happened very quickly and went from cool to over-the-top lust almost immediately.

The narrator isn't horrible, but he has a hard time making the females sound credible.

Also, I get that a lot of authors feel a need to add explicit sex to their work and I'm not especially bothered by it - but in this case it was overdone and repetitive. Most of it did not add anything to the story and it got boring.

All of this being said - I liked the main characters as well as the secondary and will more than likely pick up the 2nd book in the series.
