Tory Bodeen grew up in a small, rundown house where her father ruled with an iron fist and a leather belt - and where her dreams and talents had no room to flourish. But she had Hope - who lived in the big house, just a short skip away, and whose friendship allowed Tory to be something she wasn't allowed to be at home: a child.
After young Hope's brutal murder, unsolved to this day, Tory's life began to fall apart. And now, as she returns to the tiny town of Progress, South Carolina, with plans to settle in and open a stylish home-design shop, she is determined to find a measure of peace and free herself from the haunting visions of that terrible night. As she forges a new bond with Cade Lavelle - Hope's older brother and the heir to the Lavelle fortune - she isn't sure whether the tragic loss they share will unite them or drive them apart. But she is willing to open her heart, just a little, and try.
But living so close to unhappy memories will be more difficult and frightening than she ever expected. Because the killer of Hope is nearby as well.

With hearts and lives on the line, a kiss may be all they have time for....
Time has dumped Ashe on a dying planet, and she needs to figure out why before she ceases to exist. Or gets vivisected by some Keltinarian scientists. Or worse.
Vidor Shan might help - since someone somewhere is trying to hose him, too - if she can convince him to trust her. Probably shouldn't have told him that only someone he trusts can betray him. Also wouldn't mind if he kissed her on the mouth. Vid would love to kiss the girl, but his brother is lost, he's got hostile aliens on his tail, and the stench of betrayal all around him. Can he trust the woman who told him to trust no one?

Not a hit for me - rather disappointing
Not a favorite for me in this series. I just didn't connect with Ashe - she wasn't very likable to me. "Conan" was not a character I cared for either. His other reality persona made a strong impression in the negative and I just couldn't get in to his new reality persona. I struggled to get to the end of this one. I did like the review of previous main characters at the end - but felt some sadness in that as well. I don't do sad! Not as well done as The Key, Girl Gone Nova or Steamrolled.
    Five Stars
    Awesome, awesome, awesome.
    Kicking Ashe
Liked this book but wanted to love it. Just not quite what I was expecting. I expected more of romance, love and sex. Had a lot but not quite there yet.
Another Fun Romp Through Time and Romance
Pauline Baird Jones is a recent discovery for me. I am a SciFi fan and only recently branched out into new authors. Her excellent writing and sense of humor has hooked me completely.
Kicking Ashe is possibly the end of an great series of time travel and romance. The purple skinned time agent must answer the questions of "what was changed in time"? The problem is "will the fix loose her the love she did not know was the best thing in her life"?
I completely enjoyed the light and comedic diversion. Fans of Ms Jones will definitely like this latest adventure. Anyone unfamiliar with her work will like it as well but would benefit by starting with "The Key".
The 4 out 5 should really be 4.5. I just felt that Ms Jones is a great writer and this entry felt rushed or compressed. Her other works rate 4 or 5 consistently with me.
    Great conclusion to the series
All the characters except Smith have gotten their happy ever after. This was a highly creative world that keeps attention focused. The heroes are wonderful and matched with brave and smart leading ladies, together they take on evil attempting to reroute time and history.

    Did not grab me...
Woman going through a messy divorce has the love and support of friends and a man that loved her long ago. All this was known from the start so there wasn't much mystery or thrill of discovery in the romance. I was not a fan of the writer's choice to have the romance during the divorce.

    too drawn out
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
the storyline is good but just way too drawn out. had to skip some chapters because it was just too boring on the internal conflict of Kila. Seriously, I was starting to not even like her anymore. i usually enjoy re-listening to my audiobooks but not this one.
    VERY ENJOYABLE

    Above and Beyond
Would you listen to Above and Beyond again? Why?
Yes, it just a good love story. Many wish this could be their life.

Trevor is the man every woman wishes for in life.
Have you listened to any of Jack Garretts other performances before? How does this one compare?
    No
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I read the book several years ago and it brought tears to my eyes.
    Any additional comments?
It's a good story away you choose to buy it bork or audible.
train wreck, just can't turn away.
    Any additional comments?
this book was a total bummer. It had potential to be a great romance, but the fact it was written mid 1980's really dragged the story down. Perhaps if I were older and not raised with so much technology all around me, then i would enjoy reading about a time when we didn't have all these gadgets in our lives. other than that, the story is good, but you just want to stop reading because the characters are so foolish. playing cat and mouse with a slightly psychologically abusive edge. I think if the release date/ copyright had been more accurate i wouldn't have purchased the book.
The Genre is Situational, though fantastic .
Loved everything about this monumental novel. Sandra Brown remains my favorite author and I'm male.

    Members Reviews:
Almost, but not quite - perfect
The biggest fault I could find is something that would spoil the story, so I won't say it.
I loved reading about the trials and tribulations of a male model trying to live a regular life. Charlie's trauma was sad, but not overdone.
I understand that Clay needed a back story of love lost, but there wasn't as much angst there as I expected, and for which I am truly thankful.
Fool's Gold keeps drawing me back, even after nine entries in the series, which is amazing. Most authors lose their way by the time they hit book six. This one is a little short, probably because much of the other stories in town weren't rehashed much.
Would I buy it again? Yes
Will I read it again? Absolutely
    Surprised
I didn't think they could get any better but they did. Really love the storyline in this one.

    annoying narrator!
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
    I have no idea
What was most disappointing about Susan Mallerys story?
The narration was so bad and so distracting that I couldn't even focus on the story!
Would you be willing to try another one of Tanya Ebys performances?
    No
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
    Disappointment...I usually like the author

    Amazingly Written!
Having dealt with this issue in my family, I was impressed with how respectfully, realisticly, and kindly Susan Mallery dealt with this subject matter. This is why I continue to buy her books. Great stories, intelligently written.

    Interesting Book
This book tackled bullying which has been a problem for many years. The author did a good job in making a decent story out of this age-old problem. She did a good job in showing how serious the problem can be and how it affects so many in it's trail. The story was believable and realistic in it's execution. The story also focused on a couple going through some marriage problems as well. This portion of the story was not as developed as it could have been, but it did not taken away from the story too much. It did not distract.
I was happy to see some of the regulars. Wish there was more of what was going on in their lives. This is a cute town and it proved how the magnolias went to work to put this issue to rest and do what magnolias do, support each other.
    YAWN!!!

This is an important subject, but it was so boring, I tried several times to finish, but was not successful.
    Disappointing Sweet Magnolia book
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
More joy, more story. Where were the Sweet Magnolias?
What could Sherryl Woods have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Skip the "bullying " story. It went on and on and on.
Have you listened to any of Janet Metzgers other performances before? How does this one compare?
    Good
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Catching Fireflies?
    All the "bullying " story.
    Any additional comments?
I did not need all the that sanctimonious speech. I was expecting a real Sweet Magnolias story. I did not even finish the book. First time for a Sheryl Woods book.
Wonderful addition to a great series
Where does Catching Fireflies rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

Doctor McHottie and the Willowy Blonde
Where does Forever and a Day rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Very high. Already a steady fan of Jill Shalvis, and I really enjoyed this story and the narrator's voice/interpretation. This is the sixth of six Lucky Harbor stories (rumors abound there'll be more) and is a satisfying conclusion the series as we know it. Of the "Chocoholic" trio, this ranks right after "Lucky in Love" (still my favorite story) and before "At Last."
What did you like best about this story?
Regardless of the love story, it reveals the struggles of a working dad with sole custody of a child, a demanding career field, the pains of dealing with an irascible sibling, and, thankfully, a man who didn't have mommy or daddy issues clouding his story line.
Have you listened to any of Erin Bennetts other performances before? How does this one compare?
She also read "At Last" by Jill Shalvis and reads well, pleasant on the ear, reads the male voices without unnecessary affectation.
I still think Suehla El Attar (Books 3 and 4 of Lucky Harbor series) manages to vocalize Jill Shalvis' writing best, but Ms. Bennett's work is great. Still am disappointed Books 1 and 2 haven't been re-recorded - cannot stand the narrator of those two. Might I recommend Audible coordinate Ms. Bennett revisit Books 1 and 2 of Lucky Harbor so they might be more palatable to the ear?
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, it's a great distraction to laundry, lawn work, dishes, cooking, ad nauseum.
    Any additional comments?
As with any romance novel and the inherent sexual nature of the genre, mightily recommend earbuds versus speakers on the laptop. :-)
Because audiobooks are better with chocolate!
I Debated for a long minute on whether to get this book or not because Erin Bennett is the narrator (same as the previous book) and I really disliked her performance on that previous book. But a Jill Shalvis book is as irresistible as a warm brownie. This story just melted my heart like hot fudge. It was sweet, sexy and believeable. I can't believe the chocaholics trilogy is over! I sure hope there are more Lucky Harbor stories to come.
I am happy to report that Ms. Bennett got significantly better as a narrator. I still think that there isn't much difference between female and male characters (voices) but she did add the intensity and emotion that the story required.

First would need to hear complete book to determine any star ...incomplete it's a zero
How could the performance have been better?
A complete book ... though reader could also be improved
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
W/o a complete book, cannot say
    Any additional comments?
Audible has only supplied 2/3 of the book then suddenly switches to another book. You are left hanging after listening to what might be a good book .... why wasn't this found before listing it...why hasn't it been taken off yet. All purchasers should get money back plus book credits
it is quite disconcerting as well as a waste of time to listen, get involved then suddenly hear an entirely different story and wonder what happened .... going back and forth trying to find the original book continuation.
I am extremely disappointed with Audible...very poor quality and customer service!!!!! I called and they were willing to refund purchase but said couldn't do anything else. Don'the t they realize aggravation in listening to part of a book then be left hanging. Finally plus question on how this happened, I was given a small $ credit but IMO anyone who bought this book in good faith and went thru the aggravation plus wasted time searching should get at least a free credit ..actually even two ... Believe me, it was very disturbing listening to a book while sick so as to occupy mind and wham...story disappears and I'm going back and forth trying to find the story with no luck
Well Audible, are you going to take this book off list and give fairer compensation to customers who were so put out?????
    2 separate stories/narrators in Pt. 2 - MISTAKE!
I love JR Ward, and was enjoying this story when Chapter 7 on Part Two ended - and Chapter 8 began with a different narrator, different characters, time period, story, etc. The rest of Part Two is obviously been mistakenly combined with another story. I have called, and the call center indicated it will be corrected - I hope soon, and I would like to download the correct part or get my money back.

    good historicl adventure
A historical thriller /romance. This is one of 3 historical romances dealing with the same group of characters in a continuum - one is introduced to each major character in the 3 succeeding novels by Mary Jo Putney. 'No longer a Gentleman' follows the quest for a long missing colleague friend of the main characters. The action is set in France during the napoleonic wars, and the search proceeds based on clues introduced in the previous novel of ' No where near Respectable ' The main hero shows a remarkably minimal effect from years of solitary confinement! The books are well written, with interesting historical descriptions lashed however with a good dash of poetic licence. The independence of the female characters (who are in fact the main characters of each novel) would appeal to the modern feminist but like the presence of 'Indian lords' is pushing the boundaries of credibility. There is a fair amount of explicit sex which is probably unnecessary.
Overall an enjoyable light historical adventure which is enjoyable if not quite historically feasible or accurate.
The book is well read but I preferred the English accent for Lady Kieri as in the previous novels read by Mr Reynolds, to the affected 'indian' accent in this performance. A young girl, daughter of and brought up by an English aristocratic army officer , in English army camps, all be it in India, would not have had the heavy 'Indian' accent as portrayed in this performance. The English accent is far more credible for someone moving in English aristocratic society in the early 19th century.
Would enjoy another novel involving this group of friends and comrades.
    A Lost Lord Found
Part of the Lost Lords series, this is a well-written (and well-read) story by Mary Jo Putney. As usual, the characters are the best part. The female protagonist Cassie had a moderately sizable role in the last book of this series, definitely a supporting character there but very much a strong and viable heroine here. At the same time, Cassie isn't Buffy the Vampire Slayer or one of the 21st century kickass heroines; she is smart, resourceful, and dedicated to her craft without having to defeat hordes of enemies in hand-to-hand combat (not that she's a slouch). Wyndham, in a nod towards Monte Cristo, comes out of his desperate situation a changed man: Powerful in his own right, but definitely damaged (just as in her own way Cassie is, just in a healed-over-scars sort of way). They suit one another very well, as the people of that time-period would say.
The reading was well-done, just as all the other books in this series have been.

    Great story, so-so performance
If you could sum up Dangerous Passion in three words, what would they be?
    Steamy suspense
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dangerous Passion?
Yacht scene near the end when the villain gets his comeuppance
What didnt you like about Karen Whites performance?
The hero was an ultra-tough guy but her performance had him sound like a kindly Russian grandfather/politician.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Can a lonely artist find happiness with a dangerous & reclusive arms dealer?
    GOOD STORY vs. BAD NARRATOR
I wish the Publishers would give the type of narrator a book needs a little bit more thought, if this had been read by a guy then I'd be giving it a whole different review but instead and alas Karen White's narration was sadly lacking.
I had it playing on double speed so I enjoyed the story, yes it was a bit cheesy, a billionaire arms dealer is nearly killed, he knows who did it but all he thinks of is "touching her" or "holding her" - where's the revenge........ Oh yeah at the end for one particularly bad guy.

I wanted to love this audio book
I love this story and have since I first read it - Lisa Marie Rice writes wonderful stories. Her books always find a place on my keeper shelves.
IMO this is such a man's story that it really needed a man narrating the hero. The characterization by Ms. White just didn't work for me. In the book he's in his 30's, big and powerful, but in the audio book he sounds like the guy who waits on me at the local deli - who's about 80, 5'2 and 100 pounds soaking wet.
I finished listening to the book, but I really had to work hard to make that happen. I doubt that I will ever listen to it again.
I hope different, really different choices are made for the performer, if more of LMR's books get recorded. If it's the same reader, I just won't buy the recording.
    I couldn't finish it
What would have made Dangerous Passion better?
    a better narrator
What could Lisa Marie Rice have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
    love scenes should be realistic
What didnt you like about Karen Whites performance?
too slow, not at all believable
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
could have been a good story. The plot was unique.
    Any additional comments?
I simply could not finish it due to the narrator. It was very unpleasant to listen to.
