Unlike most of his friends and family, Limpy the Toad envisions a world where humans and toads can live in peace, free from the constant threat of being squashed by giant feet and even bigger truck tires. With Gleiztman handling the performance himself, Toad Away jumps to life and Limpys international journey from Australia to the Amazon quickly becomes a comical and touching story about differences and acceptance.

    Too much fun
I was looking for an audiobook to listen to with my nephews, but after 15 minutes I had to listen to it for myself ahead of time. I've been in tears from laughing too hard more than once.
The story's great, the narration is great, the side jokes for parents are great - this is the funniest kid's audio I've ever heard. Be forewarned there are quite a few queasy references to toads flattened on the highway (the hero keeps his dried, flattened relatives in his room as an homage), slugs, intestines and the neccessity to pee in self-defense - but anyone who's ever been near real toads will appreciate that these biological facts are celebrated in such creative and hilarious detail. I have a feeling this aunt will be getting the entire series....

My son couldn't wait to get his hands on this book. He really enjoyed the book and I was very pleased with only paying a dollar for the used copy through Amazon. The book was in great condition.
    Delightful Goodness
Fabulous story ~ I enjoyed this story as much as The Spitting Image and I didn't believe that was possible! Kids love this tale as much as adults!
    AWESOME BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a 10 year old girl AND I LOVE this book! It is written really welll and Leon really comes to life. He even feels like a member of your family. Allen Kurzweil did a really good job with making Leon really come alive nad making sure that the book was not to boring. The cver seems boring but when you open the book, you are dazzled by the greatness. Great job author! :) I think Allen Kurzweil could have done better with where he ended the book. He ended it at the climax which left the reader hanging off a cliff. I hope that you will enjoy the book as much as i did because it was written greatly!

Title: The Life of Robert E. Lee
    Author: Mary L. Williamson

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 30 mins

    Release date: 02-10-05
    Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc.
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 9 votes
    Genres: Kids, Ages 8-10
    Publisher's Summary:
First, I urge the need of interesting our children in history at an early age. From observation I find that the minds of children who study history early expand more rapidly than those who are restricted to the limits of stories in readers. While teaching pupils to read, why not fix in their minds the names and deeds of our great men, thereby laying the foundation of historical knowledge and instilling true patriotism into their youthful souls?
Secondly, in looking over the lives of our American heroes we find not one which presents such a picture of moral grandeur as that of Lee. Place this picture before the little ones and you cannot fail to make them look upward to noble ideals. (Mary L. Williamson)
    Critic Reviews:
"This short hagiography for children is an excellent example of those late nineteenth-century works that give us Lee as 'the marble man': someone with the appearance of humanity, but not really human....Lloyd James does a fine job in this production. His voice is calm, and his delivery self-controlled, much like Lee himself."

    The Man Robert E. Lee
I think itâs important to understand the man,and his family. He was a southern gentleman, and Virginia was his Home. People adored him.
I gave it three stars because the print was poor quality. I actually listened to the book on Audible books, and I liked it. Thatâs why I bought it.
So much of our American history is being erased, or perverted to fit a false narrative. But remember, in the library of Congress are actually journals of our forefathers.
The Lee family freed their own slaves, educated them, and taught them to read and write - to help prepare them for their independence. Their servants didnât leave them because they were a kind, and loving family.
The man, Robert E. Lee was a brilliant engineer. And the God he served was the LORD Jesus Christ. It was those Christian principles which lead his life, in Home, in military, in community.

    A gentle but exciting journey
I went looking for other books narrated by Anna Fields after I'd wrapped up her excellent reading of "A Beautiful Mind", the John Nash bio by Sylvia Nasar -- so imagine my delight when I stumbled over this classic! Fields does a great job of bringing Baum's playfully warped imagination to life as we are introduced to the Land of Oz, both again and also for the first time. Note: I saved this audiobook to savor over quiet afternoon naps -- it was a pure JOY!

Any book by Jean Henry Mead is excellent. She writes a good mystery. It keeps you interested right to the end.
Mystery of Spider Mountain (A Hamilton Kids' Mystery)
Mystery of Spider Mountain (A Hamilton Kids' Mystery)
In the Mystery of Spider Mountain, we meet the Hamilton kids: Jaime, who at 13 is in charge of her two rowdy younger brothers, Danny and Sam, while their parents are at work. It's summertime and kids will be kids, so the three set off to explore nearby Spider Mountain, rumored home of the Dead Man's tree. What they find is far scarier than some old tree. A spooky house guarded by fierce dogs, and some menacing men who might be bank robbers frighten them into hightailing it back home, where they (along with their newly arrived grandmother) consult a Ouija board to unravel the mystery of Spider Mountain.
This is a fun read, with just enough of the occult (Bajnomi, their Ouija board spirit, helps answer their questions) to entertain young readers.
    Five Stars
    Good read for 5th graders.
New mystery kids on the block
This is a fast-paced story which is not only a self-contained adventure (or series of adventures) but also sets up the characters to reappear in more mysteries. The central figure, Jaime, is strong and sympathetic and constantly having to try to control the excesses of her two brothers, Danny and Sam. The Spider Mountain of the title is in fact a hill near their house but their imaginations provide its scary name as well as the names of some of the features on it, like the spooky Dead Man's Tree. But the house on top of it, with its robbers and fierce dogs, is far from imaginary. When they climb to investigate it, they arouse the men's suspicions and anger and their adventures start. Add a Ouija board through which a spirit, Bagnomi, speaks to them, a Grandma whose new red, curly hairstyle makes her resemble Ronald McDonald and, as the children's fears are overcome by their curiosity, you have the ingredients for a highly entertaining tale.

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 4 hrs and 36 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 01-18-12
    Publisher: Post Hypnotic Press Inc.
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 9 votes
    Genres: Kids, Ages 8-10
    Publisher's Summary:
"Hah-ooh cinosrepus! 'Selbanev, Nosnikta, Senoj-Nitram,' said Jennings. 'They're the names of people, I bet you can't guess who!' 'Russian agents? - Zulu tribesmen? - Ancient kings of Egypt?' hazarded Darbishire. 'No, no, no,' Jennings flipped his fingers in delight and danced ungainly ballet steps round the tuck-boxes. 'Oh, wacko! If you can't guess, neither will anybody else, so we can use it for the code.'"
When Jennings' new diary is made public, the thought of his most private thoughts being made public spur him to invent a secret language. Will anyone be able to decode it? And how does Jennings end up on the wrong side of the law? And what of the collection of ancient relics a visit to the Natural History Museum inspires Jennings and Darbishire to establish? Find answers to these and other questions, in this entertaining story by Anthony Buckeridge, narrated by the talented Simon Vance.
Jennings' Diary is one of a series of 25 books by Anthony Buckeridge. The Jennings stories originated in a series of radio plays for the BBC's Children's Hour, which proved so popular they spawned this delightful series of books. The tales make liberal use of Buckeridge's inventive schoolboy slang ("fossilised fish hooks!," "crystallised cheesecakes!," and others). Published between 1950 and 1989, these books were favorites among a vast assortment of kids all over the world. Jennings Goes to School and Jennings Again! were adapted for radio by Anthony Buckeridge and read by Stephen Fry, and Mark Williams (Aurthor Weasley in the Harry Potter films), recorded an abridged version of Jennings Little Hut, all produced by the BBC. Loved by kids and adults alike, the Jennings books were translated into several languages and have sold over six million worldwide. Described as "Harry Potter without magic, but funnier", and "P.G. Wodehouse for kids", you'll want to check out the other titles in this series available from Post Hypnotic Press.
    Members Reviews:
    Disappointing
What would have made Jennings' Diary better?
Better proof reading of the manuscript. At one point Mr Wilkins is called Mr Jennings. Jennings becomes Jenkins, and 80p becomes half a crown and then becomes 80p again.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jennings and Derbyshire themselves are always entertaining
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Simon Vance?
He needs to cheer up, the problem was he read it like it was a James Bond novel not a tale of 2 school chums.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment, I grew up reading Jennings and this reading was just so flawed in so many ways,
    Hilarious
Hilarious! One of the most funny books I have ever listened to on audible. And I have listened to a lot.
    A serious feast of nostalgia.
Where does Jennings' Diary rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This was a treat to listen to when winding down at the end of a hard day.

    No for us.
So not helpful for teaching hebrew. Yuck. Don't waste your money of you want to use this as a teaching tool. It's worthless.
    Great Buy.
    Grandkids love it
Fine if you don't want an authentic accent
I've searched unsuccessfully to find Hebrew materials suitable for my young children to assist me in teaching them the language, and I was very excited when I came upon this item. The concept of translating familiar songs is nice, but the execution loses a lot in my eyes (or ears, actually) because they didn't bother to get speakers with native Israeli accents. It doesn't seem like it would have taken a whole lot of effort to do this and the product would have been infinitely better. If you don't mind your kids learning Hebrew with a very strong American accent, this is a good choice. Otherwise you (and I) will have to keep looking. I haven't listened to other languages in this series so I don't know if they are similarly American-accented or not.
    Nice Try, but . . .
I like the idea of putting common English songs into Hebrew, but I found the execution lacking. The vocals are not of good tonal quality. I don't want my children to grow up singing like the voices on this tape. Also I found it out that the transliterations in the book are different than those of the cd. It seems that there should be more uniformity than this.
