Can the good girl change the bad boy?
Lisa
I see something in Jake Allen that no one else seems to. Most people will tell you he is a lost cause, but I think differently.
Sure, he is rude and arrogant, curses a lot, and has a short temper like most fighters, but underneath all that I see a decent man. A man worth helping. A man worth loving.
If he can just stop frontin' for one moment, then I feel I can help him to see that, too.
Jake
I am not sure who this Lisa Porter woman thinks she is, but one thing is for sure: She is freakin' hot!
She tells me she has connections that could turn me into the greatest MMA fighter on the planet, but we both know the real reason she is hanging around me. She wants to get into my bedroom and enjoy some of that Jakey love, like most women in Brooklyn.
And if she can stop frontin' for just one moment, then she is gonna get all of that, and she is going to love every second.

ARC Review
This was a good read. I really enjoyed the relationship between Lisa and Jake. Jake had to overcome his demons to realize that his past does not make his future. Lisa along with her uncles Masashiro and Koichi helped him become the champion that he was. Great story!!!!!
Brooklyn's Baddest
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were interesting and the story line was good. I couldn't put this book down until I finished it.
Okay
When I chose this story I was under the impression that I was getting a well rounded story. This story has so much potential but along the way it loses its punch. At some point I kept waiting for Lisa's characters to become a main character instead of just a figure in the story. Also Jake I want to know what made him the baddest,we don't get to see that, what we get too see is a grown man act like an overgrown college kid.I wanted more action from the dojo and I wanted to see if Lisa knew how to kick but as well. Also we here about the friend but we never get to meet her and we meet Jake's best friend then the writer drops him and then later picks him up.I just feel some steps are missing, this was a good story just not great.
Star Wars/Karate Kid
Really?! I felt like Yoda was talking the first half of the book - let go your fear and anger, become one with the peaceful force...went from street fighter to champion in weeks.
If he did not have bad luck, he would have no luck. It was like the police were investigating him all the time. Poor dude. Where was this place? No actual court appearances and unlimited bail money?! Maybe they threw out the cases when they realized the guy was laying in wait all the time!!! Stalking him. No one listened to our hero at all.
The whole engagement was farfetched as well.
These fight competitions need to rethink the reigning champ being fresh to fight and the opponent tired and injured after 2 days and 9 bouts.
After some misses with logic, I still keep reading Susan's books!!!! What is wrong with me?
He was comfortable with things as they were
Jake and Lisa's story was so real. Ms. Westwood's development of these characters was on point. Someone saw Jake's potential and took a chance on him. In fact quite a few people saw his potential but I just don't think his mind was ready or willing to change. He was comfortable with things as they were. Evan was really his brother and true friend.
