In this insightful podcast episode, we are joined by Michele Piskol, a dedicated educator with over 25 years of classroom experience, as she shares her transformative journey of balancing a teaching career and motherhood. Michele discusses the distinct phases of her motherhood journey, having 2 sets of children with 10 years between them, emphasizing the importance of recognizing personal growth and change over time. She candidly explores her burnout as a first-grade teacher, prompting her transition to an instructional coach role, and later, her corporate role in the education space. Michele advocates for educators to embrace their valuable skill sets outside the classroom. The episode delves into the concept of living a "YES life," breaking free from routine, and injecting excitement back into daily life through improv classes. Michele encourages moms to redefine their identity beyond parenting and careers, emphasizing the significance of self-care and blending moments of joy into daily routines. From handling responsibilities after bedtime to embracing a mindset of "fun as the only option," Michele offers practical insights on finding balance, choosing oneself, and appreciating the blend and flow of mom and work life. Listeners are encouraged to be present, pick their daily mood, and dance it out, while also allowing their children to pursue passions. A powerful reminder is shared: take care of yourself first, put on your oxygen mask, and be a whole, happy human for your children who are watching and learning from your example.

REPLAY:
In this first episode, we discuss a the practice that has served the Warner family well over the years: Self, Spouse (or Partner), Spawn. You read that right. In this framework, we put our children last. What?! Yep. Now before you go calling CPS, know that our children are well loved and cared for because my husband and I make an active effort to ensure that we are whole first and that our relationship is on stable ground so that we can best meet our children's needs.
In this episode, we'll talk about the ways in which you can begin to nurture your own needs and how to get creative with your time in order to do so. We'll also talk about the importance of dedicating set time to nurturing your relationship with your partner. What we won't talk about? Your children. They get all the attention anyway - they're fine. ;)

Our guest this week is Sarah Fish. In this episode, we discuss how women are not meant to constantly go, go, go, and how the switching between our titles of employee and mom leaves little opportunity for us to just be ourselves. We can often fast track ourselves to burnout without realizing we're heading in that direction unless we purposefully carve out that space and time to just be us. Taking time for ourselves, seeking joy in each day, practicing mindfulness, and truly examining what we're doing and how it's actually serving us are imperative in striking a balance between all of the titles we uphold.
About Sarah:
Sarah is a stress and anxiety specialist, using hypnotherapy and life coaching to help overwhelmed women take control from the inside out. She runs online group programs for stress management and 1-1 packages for anxiety and habits. Beat Overwhelm, Find Calm is her Facebook Group for women with high pressure lifestyles.
