A newly converted Muslimah and a new immigrant Muslimah met 40 years ago in Chitown and discovered they had more in common than they thought. Darlene Hussain and Qurrat “Annie” Jafri join us today to spill the beans on what happened when they became Muslim moms in America!
We talk about the painful things: mom guilt, reverse Muslim discrimination, postpartum depression, social isolation, first generation woes, kids being bullied….and let’s not forget the fun stuff, like how Zaiba and Uzma are each their moms’ favorite kids!
There was some great news in all of this as our moms shared what they thought was the hardest part of parenting...it gave us hope for the future. We share tears, dirty laundry, and a lot of giggles on this audio therapy session you don’t want to miss. It was awesome to share notes on the role of mom with our own moms!!!!We hope it inspires ya’ll to do the same with your own moms or with the women who mothered you.
