For this Around the World, it was an occasion to highlight a nominee for Best Animated Feature at this past year's Academy Awards: I Lost My Body. A severed hand escapes a lab in Paris. As it makes its way across the city, we see memories of its former life, and a young man trying to cope with old losses and find new dreams. Nicole, Brett, and David really dug in to the story, the animation style, and what this film is trying to say. Come join us! This Netflix Roulette comes with a bonus discussion of the 1975 film, Dolemite! This Netflix movie is a biopic of Rudy Ray Moore and the making of Dolemite. Moore, played with flair by Eddie Murphy, was a singer/record store clerk/comedian who was tired of hustling for the the career he was confident he could carry off. Inspired by the poetic riffing of the local homeless population, Moore came up with a hook and a look that finally brought him fame. How well was his story told?
