In this episode, Clare is joined by filmmaker and student Venji Bobovnikov who moved from Moscow, Russia to Boston in the pursuit of a higher level of education. He started the process of moving to the USA during Covid by completing a year of education remotely. Venji´s family live in Germany, so he has experience in 3 countries.

Tunji shares what it was like to be the person who moved for work. He talks about juggling the needs of your family with settling into a new job while adapting to a culture that is very foreign to you.

He and Clare discuss some of the challenges they faced when moving to the USA. In particular, the ones that caught them a bit unawares. For example, surprising cultural differences, realising you do not have all of the rights you were expecting to have, dealing with bureaucracy and additional expenses.
