Becoming a Christian entails a rescue operation in which we are delivered from the realm where darkness reigned to the realm where Jesus is King. 

13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
