Entering the last week on Outreach with my schools and finishing work with children that I have supported over the last 3 years. It is amazing to look back on the progress that they have made as they make the big move to Secondary schools.  

On a recent Erasmus trip to Stockholm I had the opportunity to dip into:

"The Happiness Project by Gretchin Rubin",  as part of her starting point she identified 12 guiding principles and then applied them as a template to becoming happier in her whole life.

One of the main starting points was de-cluttering her home to produce a freer more relaxed environment for herself and her family to live in. 

So I'm applying this to both my work and home life with a view to clearing out the messy and untidy clutter and alongside this attempt to get better habits around my own physical and mental approach to life, so alongside the de-cluttering the physical home/work environment I wanted to aim for better life balance. Do the Journey To Better has begun and today is about documenting part if that journey.

In this episode I look forward to the US Open weekend and the probable contenders. I also discuss the fact that Fox Network missed adding the current 2 time US Open champion to their promo tv broadcasts! I'm back to school this week after my week in Stockholm on an Erasmus project, this means a lot of catch up after a week away from my outreach schools and also preparation for the end of term is in full swing with status reports to finish and review meetings to attend.

I intend to use the next couple of Podcast episodes to document our visit to Stockholm, in this one I give an overview of some of the activities that we got involved with on Day 2 of our visit.

A particular focus for this episode will be The Vasa ship that capsized and sank in Stockholm 1628. After 333 years on the sea bed the mighty warship was salvaged and the voyage could continue. Today Vasa is the world's best preserved 17th century ship and the most visited museum in Scandinavia. This podcast documents the history of the ship from its inception, through its design, its calamitous sinking and its eventual salvage and restoration, I hope you enjoy it.

Arrival Day;

Is Sunday for visiting teachers from Ireland, Sweden, Spain, France, Netherlands, Germany & Turkey. We will all be making our way to our accomodation at:

The STF Stockholm/af Chapman Skeppsholmen which is centrally located in beautiful surroundings with a view across to Gamla Stan and the Royal Palace. 

The nightlife, restaurants and museums of Stockholm are all within walking distance.

STF Youth Hostel af Chapman & Skeppsholmen is located in Stockholm's city centre on the island Skeppsholmen. Af Chapman is one of the most famous landmarks in the city, the fully rigged ship overlooking the Gamla Stan (the Old Town) and the Royal Palace.

Af Chapman offers backpackers, families and experienced travelllers of all nationalities the opportunity to share in its friendly setting. Many of our guests return to enjoy the pleasant environment and to take advantage of the superb location again. 

I also introduce the Erasmus project that I have been involved with involving our partners from Sweden France, Netherlands, Germany, Spain and Turkey.

Time to have a look at last weekends 5 selections and how they fared, remember I'm placing a £5 bet on each either to place or as a win depending on how I feel I can achieve the maximum return from the odds offered by the major bookmakers. 

This weekend I'm concentrating on the PGA Tour and The Memorial Tournament which was founded 43 years ago in 1976 by Jack Nicklaus. It is played on a Nicklaus-designed course at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb north of Columbus. 

The golf course passes through a large neighbourhood called Muirfield Village, which includes a bronze sculpture of Nicklaus mentoring a young golfer; unveiled in 1999, it is located in the wide median of Muirfield Drive. It is 7,392 yards long and has a par of 72, with the tournament low score of -20 posted by Tom Lehman way back in 1994 (so much for modern equipment!).

One of the main features of the tournament is a yearly induction ceremony honoring past golfers. A plaque for each honouree is installed near the clubhouse at Muirfield; Nicklaus himself was the honouree in 2000.

The Memorial Tournament is hosted by Jack Nicklaus and despite the top 2 in the current world rankings, Brooks Koepka & Dustin Johnson sitting it out the rest are here including Tiger. Have a listen to check out this weekends picks.

I highlight my choices for this weekend a little earlier as with the Made In Denmark on the #EuropeanTour having an early Thursday Tee Off and the fact that bookies will not go as deep with the #PlaceBet pool I need to spread across both it and the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial on the #PGATour for my 5 choices. The idea is to try and provide some solid picks as well as good value for the betting man with the major online franchises.

In this episode I continue with my #Thought For Today and I also have a little rant about #Women Drivers and them doing their make up in traffic during the morning commute!

Well its time to review how my weekend tips for the big one went; just to remind everyone:

Brooks Koepka, Rickie Fowler, Patrick Cantlay, Paul Casey and Gary Woodland,

were my choices for the weekend with each of them coming from a different bracket in the betting market.  

The idea was to try and provide some solid picks as well as good value for the betting man and with the major online betting franchises paying up to a 5th of the odds for 10th in the place market lets see how I fared on the weekend.
