Mr Kelly's Virtual Classroom

In this episode I look at the main areas that I produce content around ie Education, GAA Sport, Manchester Utd & Golf. I discuss the possibility of concentrating on one area in a given episode and whether this might streamline my output and also help with listener trends. I am also looking at expanding reach through using the SoundCloud & Spreaker platforms and I am investigating initial free hosting on these sites around selected content from my main feed. Lots to ponder as I plot my way forward in Podcasting World.

Electric Ireland Ulster MFC quarter-final: Armagh 0-4 Derry 1-5 Derry minors deservedly defeat defensive Armagh in wind-affected contest.

MANY of the names remain the same – but the game has changed. Several Downeys, a J McGurk, and a McGuckin helped Derry minors defeat an Armagh outfit including a P McGrane, and a McConville, McKeever, King and Cunningham – although the crucial goal came from a McAleese, PJ of Kilrea, converting in sublime style in the 53rd minute. 

Derry looked stronger across the whole pitch and Armagh had 11 men behind the halfway mark for large portions of this dour affair, played in arctic conditions at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh.

Armagh boss Ciaran McKeever admitted as much: “From day one when I took this job, I knew teams like Derry, Tyrone, Monaghan, and Donegal were 10 points better than Armagh. Our aim this year was to narrow the gap on those teams.

“Derry are a very athletic team and would hurt us if we were naïve and pushed up on them, left gaps in behind. We tried to mirror them as much as possible but they got in behind us in the last 10 minutes and got the decisive goal, which was the difference in the end.”

In a weekend of where Manchester Utd seemed to have eventually lost the chance of a top 4 place in the Premiership and my feelings around that as a supporter and I look at the potential benefits of finishing outside the Top 4 in the Premier division given the rebuild that is required:

Will Europa League give us a chance to step back and begin the Rebuild in Earnest?

Is Ole the man for the Job?

Should we sell Pogba & De Gea and cash in?

Too many Squad Players and not enough real stars?

Preparation for new Year 5 Intake for September

Transition arrangements for Year 7 pupils moving to Secondary Schools in September

Review of and Continuation of Support packages for Yr 5 and 6 pupils

Status Reports for Educational Psychology

Erasmus visit to Sweden Mon 2nd to Fri 7th June

Continuation of Outreach Support around assigned schools involving 32 children

Episode 58 and I continue to journal my travels around schools and also comment on sport and news that I have an interest in. Just finishing the Easter break and the countdown to summer has begun for all school teachers. That is my cue to bring some order back into my life in this episode I talk about restarting my fitness program after a spell out because of injury. The run in to a major holiday in my line of work means a lot of meetings as we set up support packages to overarch the holidays and assess the needs of the children we work with in relation to the start of the next school year. I also have Yr5 pickups and Secondary School transfers to sort all this alongside an Erasmus Trip to Stockholm in June where I am the lead representative from our School and Service. In this episode I outline the way in which a support package involving a child that I am working with has been a great success and also how it is better to take a long term view when looking at such support. As quick fixes tend to result in quick failures and cause more problems than they solve. Whereas when we take #BabySteps and have #Patience we can achieve greater gains than we would ever think possible.
