Bob Schieffer was so happy about his Sunday morning news panel show, “Face The Nation,” being expanded from 30 to 60 minutes in the spring that he’d probably like to spike his keyboard and do an end zone dance in the show’s production studio.

Katy Franco, a breast cancer survivor, and her husband, Ken Phillips, have produced a charming children’s story about a single young woman who must choose between hair and life when she is diagnosed with the Big C. The book, with illustrations by Scott Sackett, is presented in side-by-side English and Spanish. It’s a sweet book and its author is here to talk with us about it today.

I wanted to hate True Believers just because Kurt Andersen does too many things too well. But it just wasn’t possible. It’s a really cool read on multiple levels; for starters, the narrator is a sixty-ish woman once under serious consideration for a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court. That, by itself, is a neat trick for Andersen; he’s telling his story – her story – in Karen Hollander’s voice.

Charlotte Barrett and Sean Fallon, a young couple who met while studying film production at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. They eventually worked together as writers for David Letterman and are now on the verge of seeing their first film, Virgin Alexander, released on DVD. (It will be in stores and for sale online on July 17.) I admire that these married screenwriters have been able to work together and live together and am curious to know how they do it.

Max Allan Collins is a next generation Mickey Spillane, creating memorable titles and characters of his own such as Road to Perdition and Quarry. He’s worked in all kind of media, from scripting Dick Tracy daily comic strips from 1977-93 to writing the novelizations of movies such as Saving Private Ryan, Air Force One and American Gangster and creating his own one-man show, “Eliot Ness: An Untouchable Life.”

When Alex Ferrari has appeared on this program in years past, it has been to promote short, sometimes experimental films that never made it to wide release. But I like Alex and always found the young filmmaker’s work to be explosive and worth talking about so I kept inviting him back. Good news: Broken, his $8,000 debut, as well as his second film, Cyn, plus Red Princess Blues, and Red Princess Blues: Genesis, are all collected for the first time in one volume of revenge films titled Lipstick & Bullets.

"The Transformative CEO" is no different.

Jonathan Katz is neither a doctor nor a cartoon. But he has been known to be one entertaining funnyman. His old show on Comedy Central, “Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist,” was perhaps best known for two elements during its six-year run: its squiggly animation and the remarkable list of guests who sat on Dr. Katz’s couch, including Ray Romano, Conan O’Brien, Jon Stewart and Louis C.K.

From 2012: Paige Howard plays Jess, one of four friends about to graduate college who get together for one last girlie blowout weekend. Cheesecake Casserole might as well be called “Four Chicks and a DB” – that’s “Douchebag” –because one of the girls has been followed to the getaway by her boyfriend Rudy, played by Rocco Nugent. Does that last name sound familiar? It should – Rocco has a pretty famous parent himself, rock star and professional Tea Party loudmouth Ted Nugent.
