It is officially F1 construction season, but the real question this week comes from X: 72 hours in Vegas, one property, and you cannot leave. We both landed on the same answer, and one underrated resort deserves more love than it got. Also this week, Boondock's epic night, from Caesars' 60th anniversary party to a mystery house party at Cosmo, and the chandelier pieces Caesars handed out are already on eBay. Golden Gate is adding a high limit room, Fontainebleau is redoing theirs with input from Vegas Matt, and Palms turned a barbecue joint into one of the best non-smoking casino spaces we have seen. Plus the Golden Monkey Tiki rumor that hurts our hearts, a legendary Montreal deli lands in Henderson, a $19.50 sandwich at Durango, and the unadvertised $40 steak deal at Circus Circus that sounds too good to be true. Where would you spend your 72 hours? Let us know in the comments.

It has been a heavy week. We lost Dolly Parton and Tim Curry on the same day, and we take a minute for two legends with real Vegas ties before getting into the news. And there is a lot of it: glass fell off Fontainebleau again and the local coverage is strangely thin, the Venetian reportedly kicked out Vegas Matt ten months ago and handled it about as badly as possible, and the Bob Stupak statue from the Strat somehow ended up on eBay for $90,000. Plus Carin Leon is taking over Fontainebleau for Mexican Independence Day, Boondock gives the best tour yet of the Mansion at MGM Grand, Vegas has new Michelin stars nobody on this show can pronounce, the Vegas Loop is now approved for 123 stations, July's gaming numbers are in, and a new locals casino called Silverado is headed for the planning commission. We close with Caesars Olympus, the new invite only top tier, and why Caesars abandoning its mid-tier players is the real story. Would you chase this status? Let us know in the comments.

The OYO hotel name scandal just claimed its first casualty. Paragon Gaming is done running the casino at the former Hooters, and a familiar downtown operator is lined up to take over pending licensing. What does that mean for the most valuable empty corner on the Strip, and could the Stardust concept art a fan sent us actually be the answer? Also on this show, Wynn is pulling the plug on a $120 million production, and the cast already has a theory about what replaces it. Plus Allegiant Stadium lands near the top of the NFL rankings, Vegas gets crowned the most fun city in America, the Rio quietly rebrands two venues, the Mama Llama cinnamon roll saga takes a turn, John Taffer picks a fight with a Four Queens bartender, and the feds cut Nevada's Lake Mead water while the state heads to court.

Bally's used language in a filing this week that companies do not use unless things are genuinely bad, and it puts the entire ballpark site project in question. There are also rumors about who might swoop in and take it over, and the name being floated has history on the Strip that a lot of people are still not over. Meanwhile the Raiders want $158 million for a new North Plaza with $75 million of it coming from public funds, Downtown Grand has been sold, Circa quietly opened two new floors of rooms, and there is a Strip buffet charging locals ten bucks. Let us know in the comments who you would want to see take over that site.

A Review-Journal article about Mad Apple closing dropped a number that explains a lot: MGM production shows have gone from about 65 percent capacity a decade ago to roughly 30 percent today. Bally's also told the wider world this week that it is having trouble paying its loans, which makes their whole Chicago standoff look a little different in hindsight. The Treasure Island giveaway ended early and it did not end well, with people cut from the line on the last night after being told they would be taken care of. Plus the OYO listings came down, the Hooters website is somehow still live, Palms is putting faces 55 stories up, and the Flamingo is finally doing the one thing we have been asking for. Let us know in the comments if you are excited for the tiki bar.

Somebody booked a brand new Las Vegas Strip hotel called Palette on Expedia, showed up, and found out where they were actually staying. It is listed on booking.com and hotels.com too, with AI renderings, a new name on the bed skirt, and no mention of a few things you would probably want to know about. Meanwhile Uncle Philly gave away $200 a person at Treasure Island and people stood in line for over eight hours to get it, at midnight, on a Tuesday. Plus Rio Rita's return continues, Circus Circus quietly killed its food court behind garbage bags, Wynn finally put a date on Al Marjan, and the most delicious thing in Las Vegas just got shut down by a neighbor. Let us know in the comments how long is too long to wait for $200.

Treasure Island is offering $200 in free play to new and existing casino members Monday through Wednesday through September 7th, and we would go get it now because offers this rich almost never survive their end date. Red Rock also announced 3 to 2 blackjack at all their poolside tables Friday through Sunday, which is a genuine win since most pool games in town carry the worst odds possible. The bigger business story is Bally's halting construction on everything but the casino at their Chicago project, not over money but over a dispute with the city about video gaming terminals, which they say breaks the exclusivity they paid $40 million up front and $4 million a year for. We also cover the Rio announcing a new multi-showroom venue opening this month with Fabulous and Tony and Tina's Wedding, the Star Trek convention taking over the Rio and why Quark's Bar needs to come back, Lee's Discount Liquor selling to another family owned company, new drone footage of Durango's phase three expansion with bowling and a luxury theater, 21 plus signage going up at Excalibur, the Duane Davis trial starting in Las Vegas, and the LVCVA's content creator Olympics aimed squarely at Gen Z. Let us know in the comments if you made it to Treasure Island.

Lake Mead just hit an all time record low at 1,040.5 feet, breaking the mark set in summer 2022, and it lands right as the federal government cut Nevada's water allocation by 28 percent while California took only 12 percent, which is a rough reward for a state that recycles almost 100 percent of its water. Zoox got federal approval through 2028 and starts charging for robotaxi rides in Las Vegas next week, though they say pricing will be similar to Uber and taxis, which we think is a mistake if they want people to actually try it. Boring quietly opened a Vegas Loop station at Sahara, making it the second property with both a monorail and Loop station, with rides to the airport running about $14. We also cover Slots of Fun turning 55 with the best carpet in Vegas, Penn's earnings call comments about not wanting a Strip property saddled with deferred maintenance, Lady Luck's transparent post showing she is down $430,000 for 2026, a look at Primm's positive changes under Terrible's including $20 free play for new signups, another contender for the smallest room downtown at Four Queens, and Tibor's genuinely incredible tribute site to the old Boardwalk Casino. Let us know in the comments what your favorite Boardwalk memory is.

Sumacorp put together an incredible AI recreation showing 60 years of Caesars Palace in 100 seconds, and watching it come together explains exactly why the property is such a maze today. Clark County is escalating its fight with vacation rentals, now threatening to fine Airbnb directly for listing unlicensed properties, with penalties at $500 for the first and $1,000 for each additional across roughly 16,000 rentals in the valley. The Review-Journal reported on bedbugs at six Strip hotels over the last few years, which is honestly far fewer than we expected given how many rooms are here, and we get into the dogs and prevention that keep it contained. GLPI's earnings call revealed Bally's is getting closer to a plan for the ballpark's critical infrastructure, though they are not committing beyond the $125 million already on the table. We also cover the Vinyl Room opening August 8th in the old Foundation Room space with membership tiers from $2,500 to $15,000, a look inside the MGM Mansion casino bathroom that underwhelmed us, and Corey Levitan definitively debunking whether you can fry an egg on a Vegas sidewalk. Let us know in the comments whether you are an Airbnb person or a hotel person in Vegas.

Steve Wynn is coming back to Las Vegas for a talk at the Neon Museum on October 22nd, tracing the origins of the Mirage and how it turned a gambling town into a global entertainment capital, with tickets at $79 and still available as of now. We also dig into MGM's earnings call, where they revealed the Luxor and Excalibur all-inclusive package has booked over 30,000 room nights and that half those customers are brand new to MGM, which raises the obvious question of why they did not offer real value years ago. Bellagio is looking at adding more villas since they only have eight, plus more activation around the lakeside after Carbone Riviera's success, and MGM explained why they picked Park MGM for their locals push. Plus a roulette board at Aria showing 28 hitting five out of seven times at roughly one in four million odds, a new UNLV projection saying Clark County will not hit 3 million people until 2055, conspiracy theory cocktails at Velveteen Rabbit, viral center bite cinnamon rolls from a local home bakery, Korean barbecue at Palace Station, and the second F1 race Las Vegas thankfully dodged. Let us know in the comments whether you are going to see Steve Wynn speak.
