MTR Network Main Feed

In an episode that mirrors our own reality and our penchant for escaping into social media and popular culture, Alex works on her feelings regarding Jeremiah's glossed over death by entering Obsidian and finds herself trapped there.  Kelly and William work to discover the source of the glitch and why the parent company appears reluctant to fix it and safeguard their customers.  Andrea is...well, frankly still rather daft, but more on that later-maybe.

What a difference a month makes. Joe Biden goes from dead in the water in the Democratic Primary to being the Presumptive Nominee, the Coronavirus pandemic has whole states on quarantine and locusts....yes...locusts. Don't know who the writers are for this finale season of 'Earth' but it's beginning to be a bit unbelievable and lose the plot here. Need them to get their shit together.

Topics:

* As if Covid-19 wasn't enough, countries in Africa are dealing with millions of locusts

* New 'Shelter-in-Place' orders for some states

* Stay your ass home: Young people gonna be the death of all of us

* Remember when Trump said this was all a hoax?

* Dear Media: Stop trying to give Trump 'soft ball questions'

* Bernie blew a 3-1 lead in the primary

* The NYT and Buzzfeed look at where Bernie went wrong (it's not a shock)

* Celebrities Being Stupid During a Pandemic

* Brie Larson is the only leading white lady in Marvel not crazy. Evangeline Lilly won't self quarantine cause of "freedom"

* Keri Hilson claims 5G radiation is behind the coronavirus pandemic

* Tales From the Quarantine

This week's episode hit really hard.  In the ongoing tradition of addressing societal issues, this week's episode addressed the violence and hate experienced by members of the Transgender community, and Nicole Maines shines as she portrays the vast array of emotions that comes from supporting victims, seeking justice, and questioning her own worth.  Alex continues to deal with her insecurity, a storyline that we aren't the biggest fans of given that they seem to have her only focusing on her ability as a law enforcement officer, ignoring the fact that she's an accomplished medical professional as well.  Finally, Leviathan is up to no good-but how will this play out?

And oh yeah, they killed off Papa Danvers but since Dean Cain is trash...WE PARTIED!!!

This show is amazing. Seriously, if you don't like this show then we have to seriously question your tastes. This show managed to make fun of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, have the Legends cast perform Shakespeare and give us a heartfelt and emotional goodbye to Brandon Routh. Honestly, we'd watch a real Romeo & Juliet play performed by this cast. Once again this show does a great job of perfectly blending the ridiculous with the serious.

Dat Rona isn't stopping us yet so we're back with another Super Tuesday Recap review of The Flash. Every season of The Flash has Eobard Thawne show up and this season is no different. This time they've found an interesting way to bring our "favorite" Wells back. We know we will see him again, it's just a matter of when. We also see that they're leaning heavily into Tom Cavanaugh's uncanny ability to play different versions of Wells and pull it off.

Also Eva's plan is starting to come together (but folks are starting to notice that Mirror Iris is a bit off). This season is doing a really good job of pulling everything together. We can't wait to see it all come together.

Is there been a better time to return as a sports podcast? Of course there isn't so UDPod is back to talk about the sports that aren't. Sure, the NBA and MLB seasons are in jeopardy, but at least US Soccer and the NCAA have lived up to their horrific reputations amidst the crisis. Listen, share, subscribe, stay inside!

We love a good satire. Sometimes, the best way to talk about society when it's gotten too full of itself is by lampooning it. But in order to pull that off, writers (Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse) and director (Craig Zobel)  need a deft hand a clear understanding of where the irony lies. In The Hunt, the creative forces did not quite align. But where the message conveyed is rather lackluster, the method is downright enjoyable.

The Hunt would've done better to lean into the complaints when first slated to release. The occupant of the White House clearly hadn't see the movie. If he had, he may have just had an entirely different opinion. More importantly the big picture look what you made me do would've had a whole other layer of and benefited the story. Besides, it's never a good idea to give into a bully or a blowhard. Which given the ultimate conclusion, is so much extra irony.

The Hero The Hunt Needed

Betty Gilpin (Glow, Nurse Jackie) plays Crystal, one of the involuntary participants in "the hunt." Crystal is not here for explanations she's here to survive and take out as many people coming for her as possible. Gilpin bring the perfect off-kilter energy to this low key killer in waiting. Her performance coupled with the madcap murder spree are the film's saving grace.

Listen to Brandon and Ro's spoiler-free review of The Hunt and when it's safe to return to theater fun, get your laugh on.

Director Benh Zeitlin tries to recreate the youthful magic of Beast of the Southern Wild with his latest film. Unfortunately Wendy is more dud than magically. This reimagining of the tale of Peter Pan can't figure out if it wants to be grounded in reality or be a tale about magic and youthful imagination.

For this review there was a wide range of opinions from those of us that loved the film to those of us who couldn't stand it. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. There are emotional beats and adorable kids that many will connect with. Others will be put off by the disjointed story, the inability to be grounded or magical and a poorly placed score.

This week’s Legends Tomorrow gives us closure on Damien Darhk that we didn’t even know we needed. Neal McDonough was always good as Damien but he really shined when he was on Legends and this episode is no different. On top of that we got a (drunk?) Mr. Rogers parody and more puppets. Gotta love that.

Oh and it’s becoming more and more clear we’re getting that female Rogues team for The Flash. Our theory on a new Heatwave gains some traction. All we need now is Lisa Snart as the new Captain Cold and we’re going to be extremely happy.

The Flash took off for a week and when we come back the real world has basically been set on fire. But at least this show hasn’t skipped a beat. Wally West returns and he knows a few tricks about using the Speed Force that Barry doesn’t know. But we also find out that merging the Arrowverse wasn’t the only affect of Crisis. The Speed Force is dying and it’s tied directly to what Barry did during Crisis.

We have to say, someone writing The Flash is clearly a fan of Joshua Williamson’s Rebirth run as we get mention of other Forces which alludes to the Force War that happened in the pages of Rebirth. We also get the hug between Barry and Wally the felt like it was straight out of the pages of Geoff Johns’ Rebirth issue.

Add in Mirrorverse Iris looking to really be a Plunder, a female Turtle (Turtle 2), the return of Cisco and the even more anticipated return of Eobard Thawne, what’s not to love about this episode?
