Title: “Goldilocks Christians”
Theme: Don’t focus on the non-essentials (preferences -v- essentials)
Sermon Scripture: Ephesians 4:1-16 (Proverbs 26:4-5)
Opening Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:10-25
Does church always have to meet your needs and demands? Do you walk away from churches that don’t 100% align with your expectations? Do you insist that others must agree with you on every theological/doctrinal issue for their faith to be considered legitimate?
We want everything to be “just right.” Perhaps, however, a good question to ask when things are not as we would want in church or in the lives of others would be, “Is this essential, or just a preference?” Augustine once said, “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.” What do you think about that?
