We do a lot of reminiscing this time of year, don’t we? 🤔
The air is thick with nostalgia as we remember times gone by and Christmases past. Childhood memories flood our minds as we take in the sights, sounds, and smells of the season. 🎄
Of course, not all memories are good. Nor do we always remember the good correctly, often seeing our past through either overly idealistic or overly negative lenses.
Healthy and honest reflection, however, is important. It creates a healthier and more fulfilling life in the present. When we remember our past correctly we can live today more faithfully. 🙏

Second Sunday of Advent

Advent is a time filled with laughter, markets, parties, and warm drinks with friends. As we prepare for Christmas, there is much to celebrate. However, it is also a season in which we remember those we have lost and those who are no longer with us. Those memories can become a source of pain and sorrow. It does not have to be this way. We can both mourn the losses AND celebrate the lives of the ones we miss. In Advent we learn that when we understand the meaning of Christ’s future return in glory, and the restoration it will bring, we can see our weeping turned to dancing.

Opening Scripture: Matthew 28:16-20
There are four movements (stages) in our new Discipleship Pathways: Gathering, Growing, Serving, Sent. In 1 Timothy 4 Young Timothy was encouraged by Paul to engage in all of these aspects of Disciple Life.
Gathering refers to attending our large worship service and fellowship time each Sunday.
Growing is a next step into two areas: 1) growing through relationships in the life of the church by getting involved in Connection Events; and, 2) Digging deeper into God’s word through small group Bible study and Discipleship Mentoring.
Serving involves making a commitment to a ministry team and becoming invested in the work of the church.
And, finally, Sent means that you are fully embracing your role as an Ambassador of Christ and engaging in Outreach Opportunities, Mission Trips, Church Planting, and/or Personal Evangelism.
Each of should ask ourselves, “Where am I on this journey with Multination Church?” 🤔
A great way to discern this is to put the words “I am” in front of each Pathway word and see which one seems honest. 👏
