Not only do these new details raise more questions about what happened at Moselle the day of her alleged “trip and fall,” the new information highlights one of the major problems in this state: lawyers helping lawyers.
Also, on Friday the 13th, Charleston's Post and Courier published an opinion piece by the current and past presidents of the South Carolina Bar Association on behalf of the state’s 13,000 actively practicing lawyers saying that “recent news stories and commentaries have presented an inaccurate picture of our attorneys, judges and lawyer-legislators.”
However, this week, we’ve found documents that show that this heist could have never taken place if every South Carolina lawyer and judge involved were doing their jobs.
The culture in South Carolina is ripe for corruption and the corruption happens because of attorneys who pretend the problem doesn’t exist and attorneys who are too afraid to stand up to those around them.

19-year-old Bowen Turner is accused of raping three women between 2018-2019. One of those victims, Dallas Stoller, died in November of 2021.

He won’t have to register as a sex offender. Solicitor David Miller of the Second Circuit Solicitor’s Office agreed to the deal. Judge Markley Dennis approved the sentence.
Like Paul Murdaugh, Bowen Turner had the privilege of being represented by a state senator. State Senator Brad Hutto negotiated this shocking deal for his client to go free - even after he violated his bond conditions more than 60 times.

For nearly 100 years, one family's legal dynasty traded influence and held power in the South Carolina lowcountry until a fatal boat crash involving an allegedly intoxicated heir-apparent shed sunlight on a true crime saga like no other. Fiercely independent journalist Mandy Matney has been investigating the Murdaugh family since that fateful February night in 2019.
In 2021, the double homicides of Alex Murdaugh's son Paul Murdaugh and his wife Maggie Murdaugh launched this tangled web of crime and corruption into the international spotlight.
The now-infamous Murdaugh name is attached to the tragic 2019 death of Mallory Beach for which Paul Murdaugh was indicted, a litany of financial crimes perpetrated against legal clients for which Alex Murdaugh was sentenced to 40 years in prison, the 2015 unsolved homicide of Stephen Smith, the 2018 death of Gloria Satterfield and stolen insurance settlements, a staged suicide-for-hire plot, countless civil lawsuits, horrendous lawyers, and convicted co-conspirators Cory Fleming and Russell Laffitte that pleaded guilty to helping Alex steal over $10,000,000+ from clients for years.
While family patriarch Alex Murdaugh was convicted of Paul & Maggie’s murders in 2023, that conviction was overturned on appeal in 2026, and he awaits a new trial date to be scheduled as of June 2026. He remains in prison on state and federal financial crimes for which he pleaded guilty.
