Music Crush Monday

We don’t waste much time this week to jump into the music because there is a little more music than normal. This week Steve shows Kevin a band that has had an interesting career. They have had several lead singer changes that could have drastically changed the band or even ended the band’s career but they kept going! You almost have to look at each album as if it’s a different band each time. Steve walks through their career showing each step of the band.

Has there been a band you were a fan of that a particular member of the band left and it just wasn’t the same? How did that affect your fandom of the band going forward? Let’s talk about it!

Subscribe to the show and leave us a review on Apple Podcasts! It would help us out greatly if you did! Thank you all for joining us and we will see you next Monday!

Unfortunately all good things come to an end! It’s a sad day now that we have reached the final week for Wife Takeover 2019. You better believe the ladies will be back to take over June of 2020 and there is a real good chance it could be before that, so stay tuned!

Kevin is presenting this week and brings yet another unique choice to fill out the selection of music that was presented during Wife Takeover Month. This week’s band is not only a largely popular band but the argument could be made that their talent is overlooked because of that popularity. There are some also really cool personal stories shared from Kevin and Sara about how this band has impacted them and their children.

Even when it comes to personal beliefs or personal doubts the band presents these questions in their music. It’s awesome to have a platform to put those questions out to the masses so you can also wrestle with the same questions. What bands have played a major role in your life? How have they impacted you?

Thank you again or joining us this week and thank you again to the ladies for joining us for the month of June. We can’t wait to do this again!

We’ve made it to week 3 of our Wife Takeover episodes and Janet is leading the charge this week! She made a prediction during Sara’s episode that she has had the longest connection to her choice than any of the 4 of us would have for our wife takeover music selections. This turns out to be true.

Janet calls back on a unique artist that she can vividly remember listening to and dancing around her living room with her brother as kids. She does a great job of going through his career and life with some good stories in between.

What band or singer have you listened to for the longest? What got you on to them and what got them to stay with you throughout all these years? Could it be just fun memories as a kid listening to them with your parents? Or other reasons? Reach out to us and lets have a conversation about it! All of our contact information is listed below. Let us know some artists or bands you’d love to see us cover, and who knows we might just do that!

Week 3 of 4 is complete, next week we come to a close on Wife Takeover 2019. Kevin picked a very special band for him, Sara, and their kids. Subscribe to the podcast to find out about who it is and what they’re about. It’s a fun episode you won’t want to miss. We will see you next Monday!

We are back with week 2 of our annual Wife Takeover episodes! This time Steve is at the helm this week and it takes no time at all for the episode to derail. Of course, talking about things that do not involve music. He decided to do a band that he’s been following since he was a teen. It’s a band that has gone through so many changes musically that he finds it hard to pinpoint songs that do them justice. This is a really exciting episode, and we’re thinking of calling it a day after this one….but we still have 2 more weeks of these special episodes to go, so we’re not going anywhere!

Kevin thinks this the “episode of all episodes” and even challenges Steve about this being his favorite band. Steve is still hesitant to pick one favorite band, even though there is good reason for him to call this his favorite. Do you have 1 favorite band? Or is it easier to just have a top 5 list? Reach out to us and lets talk about some of your favorite bands/artists.

Thank you to the ladies for sitting in this week. Next week, it is Janet’s turn to present a band of her choosing. Don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast and continue with us through Wife Takeover 2019!

This first episode of June will be the start of our annual WIFE TAKEOVER episodes! That’s right, we are joined this month with Kevin’s wife Sara and Steve’s wife Janet and we couldn’t be more excited to have them on the show again! We hope you are just as excited for the next 4 episodes!

Sara is up first and plays a band that she discovered a year ago when checking out those awesome spotify playlists. What will everyone think? Maybe give some Ric Flair “Woooo’s”? Or maybe even Ric himself will give the Woo?!

Kevin is back in the driver seat, the presenter, the show caser, the….. One who picked the music this week! Although, it might not be what you’re expecting! This week’s artist was living in the shadow of his father but wanted NOTHING to do with him. In his own right he wanted his music to speak for itself and not because of who his father was. Much to Steve’s surprise, this is one of Kevin’s favorite vocalists ever! He has a unique sound and SO much passion in his voice that it really can’t be denied.

Be sure to reach out to us whenever you have a thought, comment, question to share with us. All of our contact information is listed below and we would be happy to have a discussion! This week Steve keeps the band a mystery(like we do every week) and pulls back the curtain to reveal the Wizard! The real question is, will Kevin give it a “Woo”? Maybe two?! Maybe none!

Kevin has definitely heard of the band but never listened to them. Actually, he thought they had a completely different sound than they actually do. There are some comparisons to other popular bands that Kevin and Steve are both into. It’s sometimes hard to hear those comparisons when you’re hearing a song for the first time. But when you dive deeper into the music you get to hear more and more than you initially heard. All around it is a fun episode and a fun band so we hope that you are just as into it.

Be sure to reach out to us to let us know what you think of this week’s band and if you were in charge of presenting, what songs would you be picking to represent them? Let’s have a conversation. We certainly appreciate your support and for listening to the show, we’ll be back Next Monday with a brand new episode with a new band, and a couple more songs to check out! We’ll see you then!

This week Kevin talks about a band from his younger days. He’s always liked them but when revisiting their albums forgot HOW much he liked them. Will they be a band Steve can get into? Are there any predictions at all of Steve giving this band a big ol, Ric Flair “WOO!”? I guess you will have to tune in to find out!

What’s cool about music and the perception of it is things do not always match up. You can take this week’s band as a great example. You see the band name, you see their logo, you see their album covers, and you may even hear some of their music, and there’s great possibility you can assume who they are as a band. However, that’s not always the case! This week’s band has a lot of positive and uplifting lyrics that doesn’t necessarily match up with the sound of their music. This band has had a long career of consistency and what it boils down to is they know who they are and they know what they are doing because they are doing it right. Overall, we have a great conversation about the band, their lyrics, and some personal stories to go with it.

We hope you enjoy this week’s episode. We look forward to bringing more music to the podcast for you to listen to. Don’t forget to reach out to us and if you want to suggest some music or even comment on something we have already covered, please do so! All of our contact info is listed below. We have another exciting episode this week! We’re joined by THE Frontman of Emery, Toby Morrell! Even though we named him the Front Man of Emery we give Devin Shelton (the other singer of Emery) some credit by giving him the title of just “The Man”! Toby is a great and entertaining guest that you will not want to miss!

Toby is showing off a band this week that had a HUGE influence on him personally when it comes to listening to and writing music! We get to hear some great insight on how this band was discovered and even about the songs themselves. You can hear the excitement in the air even if Toby is calling this music slow and droning.

We had a great conversation on what the music industry is today and how things have changed even in the past 5 to 10 years! The question is, what will the future look like? What will a band that forms in this year of 2019 look like 5 to 10 years from now? Is the digital age killing the music industry? Does it seem like things just aren’t as personal as they used to be? When you took a chance on buying an album you MADE SURE you listened to the whole thing. Even if you didn’t like it, you probably gave it second listen to make it worth spending the money on. It’s an interesting time for sure, but what are your thoughts? Reach out to us with the contact information below to join in on that conversation.

Be sure to also support the band with the links below and follow them on all of the provided social medias. This podcast is all in support of the bands we love to listen to and we certainly appreciate your support! As always, we will see you next Monday!
