  • Naked Jungle Birds - David Martin - ET176

This is a culmination of a few gems that were sitting in my playlist for months now begging to be played. When articulating the inspiration for this set, just imagine finally arriving at that long-awaited getaway, nestled in a remote coastal jungle hidden far beyond the realms of expectations. You enter this elusive oasis filled with the intoxication of muses singing, birds joyous, rhythms rampant, chimes, bells, drums, lows & highs fill the atmosphere with adventure, beauty, wonder, & maybe a few unexpected, yet welcoming surprises. The energy is a contagious harmony between humans & nature with animal instincts naturally peeling back that which no longer serves us…until you can reach the release the heart & soul have long been craving for...

  • Love Overdose - Scot Marc - ET175

Our mix this week spans wider release dates; this dance sets includes music collected over the last three years.  The music is often lively mix of both vocals and beats in a positive and up-tempo vibe.  At times the emotions lean on the inspirational, and with a few moves into the heavier side of house.  Plenty of variety in the drum structure keeps the energy surprising with everything from breaks to straight beats.  Previously released as a guest spot for Robby Clark's Rise City Brunch, the mix is presented here in its entirety and still perfectly outfitted for a long weekend.

  • Abstract Freefall - Dante - ET173

This podcast Dante comes out swinging for the fences, the festival fences.  In a mix that runs the gamut of style, the first third is exactly what we should be hearing at top festivals; truly global.  There's even some echoes of industrial, and that sound has been gone far too long from big systems.  The middle bit is emotional and captivating with some instant classic that will live long in any DJ collection.  All the energy and excitement finds welcome closure in a grouping of music that, by the end, floods your ears with the peaceful construct of que burns.

  • Stayin’ Alive - Scott Walls - ET172

This mix in our podcast this week is on a sublime level that can be described as nothing less than devilish.  The bridges from song to song are some kind of stealth operation of the mind.  Always hinting at change but instead dragging you into the next song under the cover of rhythm.  Breaks sets can fast disappear into the sample-delica pools of history.  Scott Walls' podcast delivers lush and memorable vibes, and still reminisces enough classic sounds to unearth classic dancefloor emotions.  Watch this space for his upcoming production releases.

  • Extending - Chris Tennant - ET171

The world comes at us fast, with more interruptions and surprises than ever.  Chris's DJ sets however, are unwavering.  This week his mix streams along creating a multitude of atmospheres.  Early on, he leans on vocals and brings you closer to a centered, emotional source.  From there, the set maintains an almost trance-like energy but uses organic and danceable rhythms seamlessly.  In a nod to the change around the end brings home a slew of breakbeats washed in slick production.

  • Haunted Voyage - Dante - ET170

In this latest release from Dante, he definitely takes us on a voyage and at times this mix most assuredly feels haunted. The set begins with an homage to the past and lures you in with it's safe accessibility, but the set list quickly morphs into a more assertive sound that energizes the spirit and your curiosity. One can sense an ominous tone as the tracks progress in both dark chords and tempo. By the time you're halfway through, Dante gives us an energy level that's perfect for big room dance floors, and just as you're yearning for a bit of a break, the denouement of the mix begins and he sends us off with dreamy, funky positive vibes. This is a great mix for our transition to the new year...we're all cautiously optimistic.  - John Atchley

  • Temporary Lessons of Fate - Dante - ET169

Dante gives up two hours of vibes rendered right from the soul.  Four tracks in and the compilation has already brought out the best in industrial, deep house and even tribal.  The mood matches the world as the mixes jump tracks in energy but still leave you wondering where one song ends and another begins.  We already know that music as self-expression takes a lifetime to learn.  This week Dante's shows it can also be done with heart and grace.
