The thalamus. Our brain's gatekeeper, filter and relay station. We all have tons of sensations coming at us at any given moment. Our thalamus does us a solid and filters through all the information and let's us know what is relevant. But when trauma or prolonged stress is in the mix our thalamus tends to check out.
