In this first episode of My Daughter’s Keeper Reviews, we descend into the eerie town of Illsmouth with Infogrames’ Shadow of the Comet. Released in 1993, this cult classic adventure game pulls heavily from Lovecraft’s The Dunwich Horror and The Shadow over Innsmouth, blending comet-chasing astronomy with small-town cult conspiracies.

Join me as I revisit a game I first played decades ago, with all the clunky controls, pixel-hunting puzzles, and atmospheric dread that defined early ’90s adventures. Along the way, I’ll be calling out the Mythos influences, reflecting on how the game holds up today, and—yes—admitting where nostalgia might be smoothing over some of its sharper edges.
