As the Gellhorn twins begin their ascent of Mount Vottovaara, the signs they have been ignoring can no longer be dismissed as nerves or folklore. Frozen corpses lie where they fell—then stand again. Soviet soldiers, blue with cold and riddled with old wounds, march without breath, without fear, and without orders anyone living remembers giving.

Dropped deep behind enemy lines, the Gellhorn twins emerge into a landscape that wants them dead even before the bullets start flying. Endless white. Black, gnarled pines. Wind that cuts like wire. This is the Winter War as it never made the reports: frozen wreckage half-buried in drifts, Finnish patrols that vanish without tracks, and a wilderness that feels watchful in ways no forest should. Supplies are scarce. Orders are vague. The mission is simple only in the way a trap is simple.
