Session 03 – Paying the Troll Toll

The adventurers try their best to ignore the ramblings of a wounded fisherman—but the locals are less dismissive. As unease brews in Wyrmscale Brae, tensions boil over between sisters Cannora and Lirann, and the townsfolk quietly rally behind the call to action. With the promise of coin and the weight of expectation, the party finds itself drawn—unwillingly—toward the shadowed woods beyond the river.

In the shadow of ancient woods and the withered bones of empire, our unlikely pair of travellers arrives in Wyrmscale Brae—a fishing town hemmed in by rot, ruin, and something that isn’t quite silence. What begins as astop over on the way to the great festival at the Imperial city soon tangles into something darker: vanished acolytes, cryptic warnings, and a bloodied fisherman who bursts into the local tavern screaming about something in the trees. The hearth is warm, but the woods are watching.

In this episode we briefly explore - Call of Cthulhu: Alone Against the Tide where Professor Amanda returns—and so do her terrible instincts for booking quaint getaways. Sent to the sleepy fishing village of Esbury on what should be a quiet research trip, she quickly finds herself knee-deep in coastal secrets, suspicious locals, and the creeping suspicion that something ancient is watching from the waves.

Trapped in a guestroom that feels more like a coffin with curtains, Professor Amanda begins to grasp the true nature of Emberhead. When something—or someone—starts trying to get through her door, she must choose between fight, flight, or... interior redecorating with a chair against the handle.
