In 1972, 11 1/2 yr old Vada Sultenfuss (Anna Chlumsky) is living with her widowed, mortician father, Harry (Dan Aykroyd) in the local funeral home. Between the endless parade of bodies and her only maternal figure, Gramoo (Ann Nelson) deteriorating, Vada has become a hypochondriac with weird ideas about life and death. Lucky for her, she's got loyal pal Thomas J (Macauley Caulkin) who stands by her when the other girls won't. Through her crush on teacher, Mr Bixler (Griffin Dunne), and even when Shelly (Jamie Lee Curtis) shows up to work at the funeral home and maybe be a new mother for her. Unlucky for Vada, Thomas J is allergic to EVERYTHING and when they happen upon a hive of bees, it changes everything. Check your mood ring, it's the cherished coming of age tale, My Girl, this week on Doom Generation.
