Grandma has dementia can be a scary & confusing statement for kids. My Grandma had vascular dementia, and despite being an adult, it was very troubling to know how best to deal with her. To be honest, it could be a little scary at times. She wasn't the warm and loving Grandmother I knew when I was a kid.

Teaching children what dementia is and how to live with someone experiencing the disease is becoming more critical. For young kids, grandma having dementia can be a frightening thing. Fear can turn into spending less time with the loved one - I'm sure you can visualize the negative spiral this can cause.

Thankfully, more books are becoming available for kids to help them understand what is happening. "My Grandma Has Dementia" is a brand new book published this year (2021) that is one part educational tool, one part beautiful tribute.
