It's the simple things

Every morning, I'm greeted by a Hausa Man,

Blackie, good morning,

Beaming with smiles.

Sometimes he'd say; try bring something for me when you they come back.

You see, I loved this Man, revered His works.

I aspired to attain similar heights

So when I heard He was coming to town, alongside others in the industry,

I transferred my allowance to the designated account and signed up for the demo class just to see Him.

We stayed for probably a week at his lux apartment somewhere that felt like GRA,

I was really drawn by the serene atmosphere of the Private Estate and the joys of the yuletide season, because that was when we visited.

So, as a child this experience engraved deeply as a beautiful memory and I longed to be back some day.

So while it's still easy and possible,

Its not too much to expect the simple

Things in life.

Happy days and loving nights

Genuine.and sincere friends who care

And will go the lengths to show you.

There was also a stretch of Bathrooms, Rest rooms and Kitchens detached from the main apartments.

Every tenant had their own set.

One had to be seen towel tied firmly on chest, bucket and soap dish in hand every morning. I found this quite discomforting, I was very shy as a Chld, and my teenage days weren't any better.

By this time of the Morning Grand ma's worker's are already caught up with pastry preparation for sales.

When one goes off the radar and people wonder,

Oh He/She was a one time wonder

Or such a wasted talent etc...

And people be like oh what happened to the music artiste? Where's this actress/ actor now?

Na wa oh ! You sure say this person still dey the life so?

The thing is,

I am a grown and Seasoned Woman,

Who has repeated patterns for long years without actually realising,

But has come to the knowledge of things

I know the difference

I've seen it before...

I've heard those words before.

One day almost 2 years later,

I was talking to a friend at the bakery balcony.

I looked up and for an unbelievable moment

I saw my friend gently walking towards my office like he never went...

We returned the looks of acknowledgement.

But said nothing

He is what we can call an emotionally detached and unavailable person.

He's a master at it.

When we realised, we learned to live with the fact that he may never remember to call , neither will he remember important dates.

We loved him, nevertheless.

We were better together, all 3 of us.

The crowd that synced.

The first major twist came when he wanted to drop out in our final year, so unceremoniously.

We looked at him in awe when he reeled out his reasons.

And just wondered what had possessed him.
