This instalment looks at how we define mental health service providers, and explores the role stories and storytellers play in the mental health space. Join Sitawa as she shares her finding and some funding resources for people who would like to use various forms of storytelling.

The plot twists in this second installment. Instead of sharing her findings from the books mentioned in the first installment, Sitawa introduces two more books. Though the new entries take the series on a different trajectory, they help in showing how, and why, mental health is a dear topic to Sitawa, and why she is researching on additional ways one can be of service in the space.

Sitawa, who is enrolled in an Art Therapy in Psychology program, is considering potential career paths. To help with her exploration, she is currently reading - The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk and Becoming a Social Worker by Alex Abramovich and Tasha Blaine. In this pilot episode, she shares her dilemma and how she intends to use the books, and this series, to explore career paths in the mental health space.

My Mind My Funk show host, Sitawa Wafula is in conversation with "Heal with Sheila"; a Certified Yoga and Meditation Teacher and a Energy and Holistic Talk Therapist. This is the second time Sheila is on the show. During her first time on the show (August 2018) , she shared about surviving abuse, dealing with mental health issues which opened her into the world of holistic healing. On this show, Sheila takes us through healing, loving and releasing as she describes what exactly she does and helps us understand the inner child - and how to spark healing for him/her...and to get a feel of her work, we end the show with a guided meditation session.

On the show, Marie takes us through her journey to becoming a formulation scientist and what that means, her time in pageantry and the lessons she learnt as well as living positively with Sickle Cell Disease.
