Nailed

We're sorry it's late. We're SO sorry that it's SO, SO long. But we're not sorry that it's the greatest podcast you'll ever listen to about the final three songs on The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails.

Reptile. The Downward Spiral. Hurt.

*Outro music by the peerless ixi music

We go further down the Spiral with Side 3 of 4: I Do Not Want This, Big Man With A Gun, A Warm Place, and Eraser.

There's no denying it. This is the darkest we've gone yet with our TDS mini series. Shit. Gets. Real. Obviously, difficult and potentially triggering subject matter is discussed throughout. We bring our usual charm, though.

Also: BIG MAN WITH A GUN DEBATE SETTLED ONCE AND FOR ALL! (or is it...?)

HUGE HUGE EPIC EPISODE sorry it's so long

*Outro music by Joey AKA Trent NIN Fan Art ("Closer with toddler instruments" available on youtube)

WELCOME BACK! We continue our breakdown of The Downward Spiral with Side 2 of 4: Closer, Ruiner, and The Becoming.

Three absolute bangers. One of which is a top song of all time. Join us as we tell stories and get super deep into these tracks (an even deeper discussion of Closer will happen on Halo 9). As always, we delve into audio stems and explore Trent Reznor's process beyond a reasonable level of comfort! Enjoy!

Important announcements! We'll be right back, piggies!

Also: world premiere of Blake's mashup. And YES, I'm aware that "seed 9" already did a Burn/The Big Come Down mashup for the Strobe Light thing in 2019, but I wasn't aware of that until halfway through making mine. So I respectfully submit my own take on it. Hope you enjoy.

Welcome to our discussion of the songs on The Downward Spiral, Side 1 of 4: Mr. Self Destruct, Piggy, Heresy, and March of the Pigs.

We get deeper into these tracks than anyone ever asked for! (For deep discussion on March of the Pigs, please listen to our Halo 7 episode)

WARNING: SUICIDE, SELF-HARM, ADDICTION, MENTAL ILLNESS, AND OTHER UNPLEASANT THINGS.

Welcome to the beginning of our miniseries on The Downward Spiral. That's right, we've begun a podcast within a podcast, and it's all about the legendary HALO EIGHT. In this one, Jess leads Blake through the storied background and genesis of one of our favorite albums of all time. Though this is only the beginning for TDS, this one gets very deep!

The Tate house. The loss of a bandmate. Mental health in music. And just what was going on with music in 1994? And more!

Hey pigs. We're kicking off our Downward Spiral era series of episodes with the lead single, MARCH OF THE PIGS. In this highly amusing episode we discuss MotP, All the Pigs, All Lined Up, and two Reptile re-constructions by Dave Ogilvie. Plus: A Viole(n)t Fluid!

Beavis & Butthead appear courtesy of themselves.

ALSO ALSO: Please enjoy the debut of our new intro music!

While we work on The Downward Spiral era episodes, we've unlocked the first bonus ep we ever did: PUREST FEELING! Enjoy this discussion on Trent Reznor's demos that led to Nine Inch Nails' debut LP, Pretty Hate Machine. This was early on so pardon us if it's a bit goofy, but we had a lot of fun.

PATREON PREVIEW: We're calling this "Odds 'ᴎ' Ends '88-'94" -- everything that happened between NIN's formation and the beginning of the TDS era that we haven't yet discussed. Remixed and collaborations abound! This preview is a clip of Blake and Jessica's discussion of 1000 Homo DJs' cover of Black Sabbath's "Supernaut," with Trent Reznor on vocals. Enjoy!
