Nailed

On this first day of April we've got a surprise for you. Nailed is now Manked, a weekly roundtable discussion of the great film Mank (2020). In our first episode we're talkin' Tinseltown, toys, and directors named David. Don't miss the world's number one Mank podcast!

Blake is joined by Josh of Are You There Pod and Hoot n Holler

and Adam of Shelf Life and Scrambled Transmissions

It's the end of an era, and Trent Reznor knew that when he named this double VHS video set. Join us as we wave goodbye to The Downward Spiral era of Nine Inch Nails (finally)! This is one of our horniest, funniest, shortest(?!?) episodes yet. Those are some long ass nails!

Wow, this episode is almost as long as The Perfect Drug Versions! Feels like we've been waiting forever to cover this one. We needed extra time to bridge the gap between NIN LPs ... and to speak to a very special guest! ixi music joins us at last and provides musical insight and more into this most memorable track. She also helps us decipher Trent Reznor's facial hair.

Jess and Blake play many guessing games. We explore the topiary of The Perfect Drug music video (dir. Mark Romanek). Trent describes his plans for his follow up album to TDS (Rick Rubin? Funk?). We even dare to look into The saga of Reznor's Edge. And more!

We needed to tie up a few loose ends. A listener let us know that we missed a sample in Halo 10 (John Lithgow!). Also for all our discussion of "Hurt," Jessica forgot to mention a recent cover by one of her favorite artists! Plus a few others bits of miscellany.

Full episode next week!

We're back! This time we go even further down (is that possible) into one of the best selling remix albums of all time. Join us on our journey into the blue mushroom world. Delve into the madness that is five versions of Mr Self Destruct. Is this whole thing a backdoor maxi-single? What is Aphex Twin doing on here? Why is that rope so bloody anyway? Some of these answers can be found within this week's podcast!

While we work on getting a new computer and taking care of business before getting into the next halos, we decided to throw up an episode of Nailed Even Deeper from our Patreon feed!

The Crow (1994)--the film that gothpilled a million youths. Its soundtrack was one of those iconic records that could change the course of your life. In Jessica's case, it likely did.

In addition to many other cool artists, we listen to Nine Inch Nails' cover of a Joy Division classic, "Dead Souls." This whole thing is quite a mood. Childhood memories abound.

Here's a preview clip of our first part in a miniseries about Reznor and Bowie -- a collab for the ages!

For the full episode and at least 15 other bonus episodes of Nailed Even Deeper (where we go beyond the halos), subscribe to our Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/nailedpod ! Thanks!

Halo number nine from Nine Inch Nails! Thought we'd be stuck in eight forever.

Ok, we went a little long for a single. But hey, it's a maxi-single. It's long. And there was a lot to talk about! And we were feeling a little goofy!

Feat. the return of Dick the Stripper / Sugar & His Friend.

Please forgive any audio issues. Tough to edit while we're between computers. Thanks so much for your support!!

Closer (Thrust remix)

We're back and we're kicking off 2022 (Year Zero) by finally wrapping up this miniseries!

Blake and Jess give their inch ratings to TDS, along with overall thoughts, more stories, and stuff we missed along the way. Thanks for staying with us!

Stick around til the end for the evolution of Blake's TDS mashup theme music. 7 versions in all!

It's a Trentmas miracle!

Adam Steiner was kind enough to sit down with us via Zoom and talk about NIN, The Downward Spiral, and more! Thanks to our listeners who submitted questions for Adam.

Check out Adam's stuff here including his awesome book Into The Never.

NEXT TIME: TDS EPILOGUE! Please excuse our delays and weird format as we deal with a broken computer and holiday stress. Merry Trentmas, everyone.
