On Jan. 1, 2025, a 42-year-old Houston man sped down a crowded Bourbon Street, killing 14 people and injuring dozens of others before he crashed his pickup truck and was shot to death by police. This year, hundreds of National Guard members will be watching over New Orleans to prevent a recurrence.
