Women are starting to change their attitudes towards hormonal birth control, driven by a condescending attitude from medical professionals, as well as concerns about the actual side effects. Natural Womanhood, on the other hand, has long been a leader in natural family planning, which is compatible with both ethically spacing pregnancies, and the dictates of religion. Grace Emily Stark is the guest on today's Dr. J show, and is is the Editor of Natural Womanhood.

 

Grace holds a M.A. in Bioethics & Health Policy from Loyola University Chicago, and a B.S. in Healthcare Management & Policy from Georgetown University. She is a current Ramsay Institute Fellow at the Center for Bioethics & Culture, and in 2019, she was awarded a Robert Novak Alumni Fund Journalism Fellowship to research and write about the history of birth control, birth control side effects, and the growing interest in natural methods of birth control. Grace and her husband are a certified Teaching Couple for the Couple to Couple League, where they volunteer to teach other couples the Sympto-Thermal Method of fertility awareness. Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse is the founder of the Ruth Institute, an interfaith international coalition to defend the family and build a Civilization of Love.

 

Dr. Morse was a campaign spokeswoman for California’s winning Proposition 8 campaign, defining marriage as the union of a man and a woman. She has authored or co-authored six books and spoken around the globe on marriage, family and human sexuality. Her work has been translated into Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Polish and Chuukese, the native language of the Micronesian Islands. Her latest book is The Sexual State: How Elite Ideologies are Destroying Lives and Why the Church was Right All Along.

 

She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Rochester and taught economics at Yale and George Mason Universities.

 

Dr. Morse and her husband are parents of an adopted child, a birth child, a goddaughter and were foster parents for San Diego County to eight foster children.
