What I'm about to tell you wasn't told to me when I started out. I learned it along the way. All experienced nonprofit leaders know this too, but 'we' don't do a great job helping another with our pitch.  Every nonprofit has a sales pitch to prospective donors. We know it very well with businesses under the umbrella of sales. Within the umbrella of nonprofits, we call it fundraising.

Everyone in the organization is a salesperson, including the founders. I'm finding too many founders not selling their own product. I've dedicated this podcast to help founders and volunteers to sell their most precious resource, themselves. Selling is non-negotiable.

The founder is the leader. No business will be successful without their vision. Well, the same principle applies to this activity too. Unfortunately, not all want to sell.

After President-Elect Donald Trump was elected to be the 45th President of the United States, social media exploded with skirmishing attacks on our country's future. All I saw in my news feed was constant negativity and division. In my opinion, I don't believe the majority of us hate one another. I believe we sometimes fail to do what's right when presented with that opportunity.

Doing what's right versus doing what's right for us is a gray area for a lot of folks. One's problem can be so deep, they don't know how to help someone else while they're down. All they know is to save their own interests, with the mentality "everyone for themselves." That's how they survived until this point. Why change now?

Yes, I had to go there. I'm happy to be an American and have a vote in important issues. I'd say that this is democracy at its finest, but we all know nothing's perfect.
