○ Jesus understands our weaknesses because He was tempted.

○ Encouragement to move beyond basic teachings to spiritual maturity.
○ Warning against falling away and losing salvation.
● The Melchizedek Priesthood (7:1-28):
○ Melchizedek’s priesthood is superior to the Levitical priesthood.
○ Jesus' priesthood is eternal and perfect.
III. Jesus: The Better Covenant (Chapters 8-10)
● A New Covenant (8:1-13):
○ The old covenant is obsolete and replaced by a new and better one.
○ This new covenant is established on better promises.
● A Superior Sanctuary (9:1-10):
○ The earthly tabernacle was a copy of the heavenly one.
○ Jesus entered the true sanctuary in heaven.
● A Perfect Sacrifice (9:11-10:18):
○ Animal sacrifices were imperfect and needed to be repeated.

○ We have confidence to enter God's presence through Jesus.
○ Encouragement to persevere in faith and fellowship.
● Warning Against Willful Sin (10:26-39):
○ Warning against rejecting the truth and returning to the old way.
○ The importance of enduring faith and not shrinking back.
● The Hall of Faith (Chapter 11):
○ Examples of faith from the Old Testament.
○ Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
● Discipline and Perseverance (12:1-17):
○ God disciplines those He loves.
○ Encouragement to run the race with perseverance.
● Kingdom of God (12:18-29):
○ Contrast between Mount Sinai and Mount Zion (heavenly Jerusalem).
○ The unshakeable kingdom of God.
