We were dead in our sins, following the world's ways and enslaved to our desires—but God doesn't leave us in that hopeless state! Discover the power of salvation through Ephesians 2:1-10, one of Scripture's clearest presentations of the gospel. Learn how God's grace alone, received through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone, brings us from spiritual death to eternal life. This foundational teaching unpacks why we desperately need salvation and how God freely provides it—not through our efforts, but as His gracious gift that declares us righteous in Christ.
Since Scripture teaches that we were spiritually dead and unable to save ourselves, how does understanding the depth of our need for salvation change the way you view God's grace and your response to others who may still be walking in spiritual darkness?

What does the Bible teach us about humanity? Join us as we explore the profound truths of biblical anthropology through Psalm 8. Discover why studying mankind is essential to systematic theology and how understanding our identity as God's image-bearers transforms everything. We'll examine how being made in God's likeness means we're inherently relational beings, created to reflect His triune nature. Through God-centered education that encompasses His Word, His works, and His wisdom, we can better understand our purpose and calling to glorify Him in every area of life.
Since we are made in the image of a relational, triune God, how might recognizing this truth reshape the way you approach your relationships with others and your understanding of community within the church?

Join us as we continue our "What We Believe" series, exploring core doctrines foundational to our faith and practice as Christ followers. Through systematic theology, we examine what Scripture teaches about each doctrine, allowing God's Word to shape our beliefs rather than forcing Scripture to fit our feelings. After covering the Bible, one true God, and Jesus Christ in previous weeks, today we focus on the Holy Spirit's vital role in bringing clarity to our lives, particularly through understanding Scripture. Discover how the Spirit equips believers for every good work and transforms biblical truth from mere information into life-changing revelation.
How might your approach to reading Scripture change if you actively invited the Holy Spirit to illuminate God's truth before opening your Bible?

Join us as we explore our church's core doctrines through systematic theology this summer. These foundational statements aren't just religious formalities, they represent carefully crafted biblical truths that confront common misconceptions about our faith. By examining what the whole Bible teaches on each topic, rather than isolated verses, we guard against heresy and build a robust understanding of Scripture. Discover why these doctrinal statements matter and how they anchor our beliefs in God's complete revelation, ensuring we're not just believing what we want about Jesus, but what Scripture actually reveals.
When examining your own beliefs about essential Christian doctrines, do you primarily rely on isolated verses that seem to support what you already think, or do you intentionally seek out what the entire Bible teaches on that subject, even when it challenges your current understanding?

To truly understand God, we must examine His attributes throughout all of Scripture. In this message, we explore how theologians categorize God's characteristics into two essential types: incommunicable attributes (those unique to God alone) and communicable attributes, qualities He shares with humanity and calls us to emulate. While God remains absolutely one in His divine essence, He invites us into relationship through His shared qualities like holiness. Though we cannot achieve perfect holiness, Scripture repeatedly commands us to be holy because He is holy, calling us to live set apart lives that reflect His character.
Since God calls us to emulate His communicable attributes like holiness, what practical steps can you take this week to better reflect one of God's shared qualities in your daily interactions, knowing that while perfection isn't the goal, transformation is?

Join us as we explore the essential doctrine of Scripture, its inspiration, sufficiency, and effectiveness. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, we learn that "All scripture is breathed out by God", making it our firm foundation for faith and practice. Scripture isn't based on human interpretation or invention—as 2 Peter 1 reminds us, "no prophecy of scripture comes from someone's own interpretation". What makes our approach unique is examining "the whole counsel of scripture" on each doctrine, gathering everything God has revealed rather than isolated verses. God has given us everything we need in His Word. As the hymn "How Firm a Foundation" beautifully asks, "What more can He say than to you He has said?"
How might your approach to challenging life situations change if you truly believed that Scripture contains everything you need for faith and godliness, rather than seeking additional revelation or wisdom from other sources?

Systematic theology addresses what the Bible teaches about any given topic, summarizing Scripture's teachings into concise statements. Even though theological study can be challenging, it's neither impossible, unprofitable, nor unnecessary. Anyone who has thoughts about God is participating in theology, regardless of their formal education or training. Beyond systematic theology, we also have historical theology, which examines how theological doctrines have developed throughout church history.
How might recognizing that you already make theological statements impact your confidence in studying Scripture more deeply, and what area of theology most intimidates you that you could begin exploring with fresh perspective?

In this message, Ethan helps us explore the Biblical concept of stewardship versus ownership of our resources in 2 Corinthians 8 & 9. When we adopt a stewardship mindset rather than an ownership mindset, our hearts follow what we truly value. Scripture challenges us to examine how God's love abides in us when we see others in need. As 1 John 3:17-18 reminds us, true love isn't just words but actions and truth. Our financial focus directly impacts our spiritual focus—what we invest in captures our attention and hearts.
How might your perspective on finances shift if you viewed yourself not as an owner but as a steward of God's resources, and what practical changes would this mindset inspire in your giving habits?

Welcome to our four-part series on giving from 2 Corinthians 8-9. I'm continuing what Pastor Orrin began last week when he rightly pointed out that we shouldn't apologize for teaching on giving since it's clearly in God's Word.
If you found yourself hesitant or uncomfortable when you realized today's message was about giving, what might that reveal about your relationship with money and your understanding of God's perspective on generosity?

Join us as we explore the Biblical principles of giving with a willing heart. While the New Testament doesn't mandate a specific amount to give, it does reaffirm many giving principles. God's grace makes giving a privilege rather than a burden - people in David's time were actually begging for opportunities to give. When we recognize how God has spiritually awakened us and blessed us, we're inspired to share those blessings with others in need. Pause to consider: How has God blessed you recently, and how might you share that blessing with someone else?
How might your perspective on giving transform if you viewed it not as an obligation but as a privilege to participate in God's generous work, and what specific blessing could you share with someone this week that extends beyond financial resources?
