The creator/illustrator Lamar Mathurin joins Nerd Escape to discuss his indy comic book titled GUMBO, and to NERD-OUT on nostalgic 90s pop and comic book culture. Lamar shares his passion for art and comics, his inspirations, and the creative details on the process of creating GUMBO. GUMBO is a sci-fi story that takes place in a dream like or purgatory world setting called Gumbo. Characters from different worlds and timeframes are trapped in this strange world, and they must play along with the Architect's game in order to have a chance to escape and go home. Your hosts Cami and Jublar talk about their current favorite Japanese comic books in the first Nerd Escape installment of Mini Manga Mania Mondays (MMMM). Every 3rd Monday Nerd Escape will share their favorite mangas of the month. In this episode Cami shares the manga title The Way of The Househusband, created by Kousuke Oono. Jublar shares his favorite manga titled Bakuman written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. This are two gem manga titles that are hilarious in content and masterful in context and art.

Night Hunters is a Floating World Comics independent comic book feature illustrated by Alexis Ziritt and written by Dave Baker. Dave Baker joins Jublar and Cami for a Q&A to discuss the cyber-future setting and characters of Night Hunters. Dave Baker breaks down how this comic book is his artistic protest for the culture movements that are taking place in the real world of today. Night Hunters takes place in a dystopian cyber modified future set in Venezuela 2057-2078. Cyber-mech modified super cops control the streets of Gran Caracas by establishing peace through the citizens' superior obedience, extreme police brutality, and only giving basic human rights  to those who are or were former police officers. If you love bootleg 80s movie posters or if you're still waiting on your cyber-punk video game refund then this comic book is for you!

Nerd Escape is back with episode 14: Sentient. Sentient is a 6 chapter graphic novel from TKO studios written by Jeff Lemire and illustrated by Gabriel Walta. On board the new earth colony expedition space ship the U.S.S Montgomery all of the adults are suddenly killed when New Earth separatist attack the colony ship. This leaves the ship's on board A.I. named Valarie to teach and take care of the children who survived the attack. Valarie must learn to become a mother to these children as they trek across deep space and into unknown dangers. Nerd Escape hosts Jublar and Cami guide you through this epic deep space tale, and how it made them sentimental towards an A.I. system and what is their take on the concept of imposing your will and destruction for blind freedom as the separatist did in Sentient.

Eric Skiff - Under-clocked

Under-Earth is a graphic novel from TopShelf Productions written and illustrated by the Melbourne Australian native Chris Gooch. Under-Earth takes place in an underground subterranean prison city that is a sinkhole for nostalgic items such as iPod, N64s, collector item toys, and even old city structures themselves. The story follows a struggling new prisoner Reece Dixon and fellow prisoner Malcolm as their friendship goes through radical change. The story also follows two gritty good hearted thieves Ele and Zoe as they steal items for a power hungry prison kingpin who claims he has map access to ways out of the prison. These two stories stand alone, but also intertwine through tone and perfect pace and timing. Chris Gooch joins Nerd Escape for an informative interview about his influences and interest in writing and illustration, the reflection of Australia as a back setting in Under-Earth, and on what are his favorite things about Under-Earth. This is an amazing read that you do not want to miss out on, for this graphic novel has wonderful colors, tones, layers, and epic story telling.

Snot Girl is an Image published title from creators Bryan Lee O'malley and Leslie Hung. This comic book is about a very popular and glamorous fashion blogger/influencer named Lottie Person who is nothing put stunning and perfect on her social media and websites, but behind closed camera lenses she is a snotty wreck of a person suffering from allergies; also she has green and she don't care. Lottie and her hater brunch friends drift and whine around LA and California as thrilling drama of murder and deceit seems to follow them through every page you turn. Join Nerd Escape hosts Jublar and Cami on this meta podcast episode about a fashion blogger with terrible allergies and as they sniffle and sneeze their way through Episode 12: Snot Girl

Nerd Escape season 2 opens up with the Aftershock comics title "We Live" from sibling creators Inaki and Roy Miranda.  We Live is a dystopian analogy story that takes place on a mutated version of Earth in the year 2084. Humanity is on the verge of extinction with Mother Nature attacking with catastrophic events and with new adapted vicious animal species that seek to eliminate humankind.
