Iconic STAR TREK and X-MEN Actor Patrick Stewart Has Died at Age 86
Sir Patrick Stewart died on October 28 at his Los Angeles home, in the care of his wife Sunny Ozell, after what his family called a “brief and poignant journey” with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia. The article recaps his life: born July 13, 1940, a Royal Shakespeare Company actor, I, Claudius, then Picard on all seven seasons of TNG and four films, Professor X from 2000, and the Picard series. It also notes his A Christmas Carol one-man shows, his American Dad voice role, and his friendship with Ian McKellen, who officiated his 2013 wedding. He recently finished Avengers: Doomsday, which will be his last on-screen performance as Xavier and likely his last overall. He’s survived by Sunny and his children Daniel and Sophie.

ILM Decorates HQ with Vintage STAR WARS Costumes for Halloween
Industrial Light & Magic decorated its lobby with vintage Ben Cooper plastic Star Wars costumes from the ’70s and ’80s, including Luke, Leia, C-3PO, Yoda, Chewie, an Ewok, Vader, a stormtrooper, and Boba Fett. Nerdist enjoys the oddity of the character’s face and logo printed on the torso so adults would know what the kid was dressed as. The display also includes period newspaper clippings about Star Wars dominating costume sales. The author sees it as a reminder of an era when the franchise ruled pop culture.

Tony Gilroy’s BEHEMOTH! Trailer Makes No Sense, But We’re IN!
The trailer for Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth! (Searchlight) tells us little about the plot and instead sells a feeling. The synopsis describes a gifted cellist (Pedro Pascal) who returns home to Los Angeles after 20 years on the road, where music “swells into an adventure that will change him forever.” The cast also includes Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Hank Azaria, and Will Arnett. It played the New York Film Festival earlier this month to positive early reviews, and opens in theaters December 4.

Who Will Connor Storrie Play in Ryan Gosling’s GHOST RIDER?
Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie is reportedly in talks (per Variety) to play the villain opposite Ryan Gosling in Marvel’s Ghost Rider. Since the character has no signature villain, it’s unclear whom he’d play. Mephisto is unlikely because the MCU already has one, played by Sacha Baron Cohen in Ironheart. Directed by Shawn Levy and written by Jonathan Tropper, the film starts shooting in New York in 2027 and is set for July 28, 2028. The author is excited but wary of the MCU’s planned “reset” after Doomsday and Secret Wars.

JUMANJI: OPEN WORLD Trailer: Most Dangerous Game Night Yet
The third and final film in Jake Kasdan’s modern Jumanji trilogy has the game break out of its console and unleash its jungle chaos into the real world. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan return, joined by Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Nick Jonas, and Danny DeVito. The trailer hints at a dimensional portal and Dwayne Johnson’s character being inhabited by someone’s mother. It opens on Christmas Day, December 25, 2026.

PROJECT HAIL MARY Writer Shares His STAR WARS x STAR TREK Idea
Andy Weir, author of The Martian and Project Hail Mary, told Inverse about a crossover that merges the endings of Star Wars: A New Hope and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. In his version, the Genesis device exploding at the end of Wrath of Khan and the Death Star’s destruction each tear a hole in reality, forming a wormhole. Luke and Vader end up on the Star Trek side, where the Enterprise picks up Vader. Dr. McCoy repairs his cybernetic body in sickbay and turns him back into Anakin. When the Enterprise then enters the Star Wars universe, the dead Spock becomes a Force ghost and Sulu discovers latent Jedi abilities. Nerdist says it’s a kooky idea that shouldn’t be a movie or TV show but would make a fun out-of-continuity comic, noting that Lucasfilm and Paramount might hesitate. The author suggests Alex Ross would love to illustrate it.

Paul Atreides Answers for His Crimes in DUNE: PART THREE’s Final Trailer
The final trailer for Dune: Part Three, which adapts Frank Herbert’s Dune: Messiah, shows Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) reaping the consequences of years of galactic genocide. The studio’s synopsis sets the film nearly two decades after Paul seized the Imperium. He’s now a ruthless emperor haunted by visions of the Imperium’s collapse and the reappearance of his long-lost love, and is drawn into a conspiracy with Chani (Zendaya) at its center. Robert Pattinson plays the shape-shifting Face Dancer Scytale, the greatest threat to Paul’s reign. Denis Villeneuve directs and co-wrote the script with Brian K. Vaughan. The cast also includes Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach de Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Javier Bardem. It opens December 18, 2026, the same day as Avengers: Doomsday, a date nicknamed “Dunesday.”

STAR TREK’s Chekov, Walter Koenig, Passes Away at Age 90
Walter Koenig, who played Pavel Chekov on two seasons of the original Star Trek and in seven films, has died at 90. THR reports he died peacefully of natural causes at his North Hollywood home. Roddenberry wanted a Russian crewman to show that the Cold War would be long behind us, and the producers also wanted someone who could appeal to teenage girls: Koenig resembled Monkees frontman Davy Jones and was even given a wig. He wrote an episode of Star Trek: The Animated Series (“The Infinite Vulcan”), played Alfred Bester on Babylon 5, and wrote for Land of the Lost and The Incredible Hulk. He had a big role in Wrath of Khan, and his last Trek appearance was a voice cameo as Anton Chekov in Picard season three, a tribute to the late Anton Yelchin. Only William Shatner and George Takei remain of the original series’ main cast, and Takei posted a tribute to his friend.

CLAYFACE Namedrops Several Iconic Batman Storylines
In Clayface’s opening, Matt Hagen is nominated for an Oscar-equivalent, and the nominated films’ fictional titles are Batman Easter eggs. No Man’s Land is the 1999 storyline in which Gotham is cut off from the U.S. after an earthquake. One Bad Day points to The Killing Joke’s theme and to 2023’s one-shot Batman: One Bad Day – Clayface. Before the Flood refers to the flooding of Gotham in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, though the film’s director said that universe is separate from the DCU. Sagan is likely a Carl Sagan biopic, though the author notes possible deep-cut comic links. Batman is never mentioned directly in the film.
