She openly shares a part of herself on her Instagram page called Mastering Me, where she shares openly about her mental health, spirituality, struggles, and triumphs.  Growing up she felt like every day was a fight, like the world was out to get her. She struggled with feelings of insecurity, self-doubt, and being less-than.  By going to retreats and therapy, she has been able to heal and accept herself, be proud of herself, and motivate herself.

  • My Illness Is Not Me (feat. Bashie Naparstek)

    Born in Montreal, Canada, Bashie describes her childhood and adolescent years of dealing with the consequences of clinical depression gone undiagnosed. “At recess time in school, I would escape to the back stairwell with my pen and journal to just write and cry”.  With guidance from professional sources, a stretch in the psych ward, as well as many life experiences serving as her greatest teachers - Bashie received her diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, and has found immense strength and healing within the 12 Step Program for Emotions Anonymous.  Today, Bashie gives back as a teacher and mother, incorporating Jewish and G-d centered values through the lenses of mental health, and cares for her wonderful family.

    “When it would happen, I would just see red.”
    Meet Dovid Zane Braslawsce.
    Born in “trucker-stop “ Beaver, Pennsylvania, Dovid was that child with unending energy. He was an explosive kid, expressive, untamed, and at times violent. In fact, at the ripe age of seven, he was sent to anger management classes that attempted to teach him how to regulate himself.
    “I would go blind” is how Dovid depicts these moments. “ I would feel a lot of shame after; but at the same time, I wasn't even so sure what had just happened!”
    Why did Dovid feel out of control? How did he learn to channel his boundless energy? And what about the shame and guilt that each outburst would torment him with?
    Fast forward to Dovid now. Dovid now resides in Crown Heights, New York, and devotes his time to his passion projects- G-d and martial arts! Currently, he runs a self defense and fitness training program for men and boys in Crown Heights, in which he is fortunate to practice and teach his healing on the daily.     Rabbi Avremi Zippel grew up on shlichus in Salt Lake City, Utah. Zippel is a survivor of child sexual abuse, something he kept secret for a long time.
    After getting married, moving on shlichus, and becoming a father, he eventually chose to go public with his story, impacting hundreds of people and becoming an advocate for mental health and survivors of sexual abuse in the process.
    In this episode, Rabbi Zippel opens up about his internal experiences, how his self-image shaped his experience and outlook, and how he healed and learned to reconnect with himself and with G-d.
    “When you get to a position where your experiences can provide something for someone else, it is the single greatest blessing you can hope to attain as a human being,” Zippel reflects. His goal is to inspire and lend strength to other survivors of sexual abuse--and this episode is a powerful step in that direction for those with a similar experience to his.
