Storms will hit every single person. Finances. Health. Relationships. Mental Health. Spiritual storms. Our society hits them too: economic storms, healthcare storms (how?!), political storms, social justice storms. Equality. Equity. Freedom? While each of us hits storms, we also have a way that we deal with them. So the question is; How do we deal with these storms?

Life is change. From the very beginning of our lives, change is happening to us. Our bodies grow and change. The first 1/3 of our lives is constant body change. And, as our bodies grow and adapt to our environment, we become ready for new environments and experiences. So, we are thrust into the world as changing beings. And, as we are changing, the circumstances around us change.

It is so good to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead! It is not hard to say amen to the good news that Jesus rose from the dead. You all know one of my favorite phrases, "how can you defeat a king who wins by dying?" It is amazing! It is astounding! It is such good news! However, this good news demands a lot of us! As I said on Good Friday, Jesus said, "It is finished", but it is not over. The death and the resurrection of Jesus are not static events that simply unlock heaven for us. No, rather, we are required to become people of hope.

It is ironic to call Good Friday “good.” The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is one of the most heinous events of all time.  Why do we call it good? How ironic it is that we celebrate Jesus' birth, but revel in his death? Only in the mystery of God's holiness and from the wisdom of the Trinity can we call these events “good.”
