We are joined together to be a part of the local church as described as A Body, A Bride, A Family, A Flock. In each of these metaphors, we have responsibilities to each other. In order to fulfill our purpose, we must give in faith and then we will be blessed spiritually, emotionally and materially.

Rules are like a fence. They create clear boundaries that we should not cross, but they can also be restrictive and confining. Just like a fence keeps us from wandering too far off the path, rules keep us from straying too far from what is deemed acceptable by society or an authority. However, like a fence, rules can also keep us from exploring new areas and experiences. So, according to that definition, does the bible require tithing as a rule?

God is always speaking to us, directing us, encouraging us, empowering us, but we need to be tuned to his voice to hear what he’s saying. Worship requires something of us. We have to choose to engage, to sing, shift our posture, adjust our attitudes, put away distractions so we can proclaim the truth. We deny ourselves that we might join in the eternal chorus of every man, woman and child that has ever sung before us or will sing after us. As we sing, we bear witness to ourselves and everyone around. We testify to the goodness of God throughout the AGES.
