This Sunday, September 9, will be the conclusion of the sermon series based on the book, Scripture and the Life of God, by David Watson. We will be discussing the way God's Word is truly "One Book for the Life of God." We believe in the authority of Scripture. It is inspired (breathed) by God. The Bible isn't a book among books; rather it is the Book. Every word in God's Word points us to Jesus, even the words we struggle with, don't yet understand or don't agree with...yet. Here are the Scriptures texts we will be looking at on Sunday: Isaiah 55:8, 11, Psalm 119:105, Hebrews 4:12-13, John 5:39, Psalm 137:8-9, Deuteronomy 22:8, Jeremiah 15:16. This Sunday, Sept. 2, will be week 4 of the sermon series based on the book, Scripture and the Life of God, by David Watson. We will be discussing expectation and the life of God.
In general, the American church has very low expectations for God. For the most part, we tend to not expect miracles or anything bordering on the supernatural. The reality is that God gives all kinds of amazing gifts to his church (I Cor. 12:7-11) including wisdom, prophecy, faith, and healing. We should not only be open to the kinds of things God does in Scripture but we should "actively seek them." How can we develop a culture of expectation at New Hope?

This Sunday, August 26, we'll continue our discussion on how a better understanding of Scripture leads us deeper into the life of God. We'll talk about how the lessons of Scripture are best absorbed with the help of a community of believers – both past and present – and why it's so vital for each of us to be intentional about walking with others on our journey of faith. Scripture verses to reflect on as you prepare for the message include Proverbs 3:5-6 and 27:17. Watch the Video and more here: http://findnewhope.com/resources/sermons/

This Sunday, we talk about Reading for the Life of God, based on Chapter 2 of David Watson's book, Scripture and the Life of God. Our scripture will be Hebrews 4:12, *"For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires."* The reality is that God's Word is alive and powerful because we serve a living God! One of the most powerful ways to have an encounter with the living God is through Scripture. God wants to meet us on the pages of his Word!

This Sunday, August 5, we will finish our sermon series on “Unsung Heroes of God’s Word.” The Bible is filled with people called by God to use their gifts to serve Him and make a profound difference for God’s people, but not all of them are names we hear about all that much. We’ve looked at Bezalel and Oholiab, Priscilla and Aquila, and Shiphrah and Puah. This week’s message will be “Unsung Hero: Jehoshaphat,” who faced an overwhelming crisis as a king and he immediately turned to God for help. To read about what God did through him go to: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Chronicles+20&version=NLT
Pray for those who are facing a difficult crisis and make the right choice to immediately turn to God. Pray for Jesus to be honored in our worship. Pray for our guests to feel the welcome of Christ at work through our welcome and hospitality.

This Sunday, July 29, we will continue our sermon series on "Unsung Heroes of God's Word." The Bible is filled with people called by God to use their gifts to serve Him and make a profound difference for God's people, but not all of them are names we hear about all that much. We've looked at Bezalel and Oholiab and Priscilla and Aquila. This week's message will be "Unsung Heroes: Shiphrah and Puah," who refused to carry out an evil order from a Pharaoh that helped lead to the birth of Moses. To read about what God did through them go to: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus+1&version=NLT
Pray for those who dare to say "No!" when it is absolutely necessary to honor God instead of obey a human being. Pray for wisdom and strength to do the right thing, even when it costs us. Pray for our guests to feel the welcome of Jesus Christ at work through our worship. Watch the Video and more here: http://findnewhope.com/resources/sermons/

The Bible is filled with people called by God to use their gifts to serve Him and make a profound difference for God's people, but not all of them are names we hear about all that much. Last week we looked at Bezalel and Oholiab, who were called, empowered, and equipped to lead the construction of the Tabernacle. This week's message will be "Unsung Heroes: Priscilla and Aquila," who helped Paul in his ministry, discipled new believers and welcomed churches to meet in their homes. Their gifts are so important to being the church Jesus wants. Pray for people to better discern the ways the Holy Spirit makes a home in us and calls us to serve others in gift-based ministry. Pray for our guests to feel the welcome of Jesus Christ at work through our worship. This Sunday, July 15, we will begin a new sermon series on "Unsung Heroes of God's Word." The Bible is filled with people called by God to use their gifts to serve Him and make a profound difference for God's people, but not all of them are names we hear about all that much. Over the next four weeks, we will look at people in the background of the Bible- people who never get much attention and very few headlines. Some you will never have heard of before at all. Bezalel and Oholiab, for example, are incredibly important men, who were called, empowered, and equipped to lead the construction of the Tabernacle- the place of worship for the ancient Israelites as they made their way to the Promised land- and everything associated with it. Read some of their story in Exodus 31:1-11 (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus+31%3A1-11&version=NLT). In "Unsung Heroes: Bezalel and Oholiab" we'll discover some important things about God's unique call in our lives. Pray for those who may not be loud and up front, but also have incredible skills and gifts to share with the Body of Christ. Pray for people to better discern the ways the Holy Spirit makes a home in us and calls us to serve others in gift-based ministry. Pray for our guests to see Jesus, the crucified and resurrected Lord, at work in their lives.
