Part of our sermon series, *The Seven Last Words of Jesus,* in which we will reflect on the last phrases that Jesus uttered on the cross and what they mean for our own lives. This Sunday, February 25, we will continue with our sermon series on the "Seven Last Words" of Jesus spoken from the cross. This week we will look at Jesus' fourth word found in Mark 15:33-34: "At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. Then at three o’clock Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means 'My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?'" This word startles us and seems to present us with an abrupt shift from Jesus' words spoken for others. What does it mean for Jesus, God, to be forsaken by God? How does this impact us as followers of Jesus? The title of the message is, "Forsaken." Part of our sermon series, *The Seven Last Words of Jesus,* in which we will reflect on the last phrases that Jesus uttered on the cross and what they mean for our own lives. This Sunday, February 18, we will continue with our sermon series on the "Seven Last Words" of Jesus spoken from the cross. This week we will look at Jesus' third word found in John 19:26-27: "When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, 'Dear woman, here is your son.' And he said to this disciple, 'Here is your mother.'" And from then on this disciple took her into his home." We see again in this third word from the cross how Jesus is thinking of others as He dies. In the fullness of both His human and divine natures Jesus creates a new family of faith by asking His mother and best friend to care for one another. When we step over the line of faith in Christ, this becomes one of our key callings, too. We must love one another. It's not a suggestion. The title of the message is, "Here." February 4, we begin our new sermon series, The Seven Last Words of Jesus, in which we will reflect on the last phrases that Jesus uttered on the cross and what they mean for our own lives.
The message is called “Forgive” and it focuses on Luke 23:34, “Father, Forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing.” We talk about Jesus’ practice of radical forgiveness and how we are called to imitate him. And yet, forgiveness is so extremely difficult. How in the world do we forgive when we have been wronged by others? The answer is always Jesus. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow as we wrestle with this really challenging topic.

The rules and regulations found in God's Word were designed to provide graceful limits for God's people. Often times, however, those same rules can get twisted and rigid in the midst of how messy life can be for people. The rules of religion are good and important, but they take a back seat to the most important commandment- loving God and loving people. This Sunday, January 21, we continue with the sermon series “Why in the World?” We have talked about how awesome it is that God showed up in a human body and lived among us in Jesus. We said that Jesus didn’t claim to have the best explanation about God; rather He declared that He was the best explanation of God. One of the reasons Jesus came from heaven to earth- as the perfect and full representation of the Father- was to remove barriers that prevented us from connecting with one another. The ground is level at the foot of the cross, and it’s vital that we stay aware of our profound gratitude to God for the gift of forgiveness and new life. Read Romans 5:7–8 and Luke 7:36–50 to be prepared for this Sunday’s message, “Classless.” To read these go to: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+5%3A7–8%3B+Luke+7%3A36–50&version=NLT http://findnewhope.com/resources/sermons/ --- Subscribe to our Sunday Morning Sermons on Apple Podcasts: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/new-hope-umc-sunday-sermon-podcast/id1093524425?mt=2 - Website: http://www.findnewhope.com/ - Donate via PayPal to support the podcasts and the Technical Arts Ministry of New Hope! https://goo.gl/o2a9oU - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brandonchurchfl - YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/fumcmedia - Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/findnewhope - Google+: http://plus.google.com/+Fumcbrandon/
This Sunday, January 14, we continue with the sermon series "Why in the World?" A number of you are using the accompanying materials from Andy Stanley in your connect Groups. Last Sunday we talked about how incredible it is that God showed up in a human body and lived among us in Jesus. We said that Jesus didn't claim to have the best explanation about God; rather He declared that He was the best explanation of God. Since Jesus came to communicate and demonstrate who God is we can count on every story about Jesus- every word in Scripture, in fact- revealing the way Jesus helps us see the Father more clearly. This Sunday, January 7, we will begin and new sermon series “Why in the World?” A number of you will be using the accompanying materials from Andy Stanley in your connect Groups. If you want to get involved in one, contact Vicki Harrison at [email protected]. Christ followers believe some absurd things—including that God showed up in a human body and lived among us in Jesus. Why would God want to become one of us and live in a world of anxiety, chaos, and heartache? Why would God leave the comfort and recognition of heaven to live in this world? We’ll take a look at these perplexing questions over the next four weeks. Read John 1:14 and John 14:1–10 to get ready (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+1%3A14%3B+14%3A1–10&version=NLT)

Pliny the Elder, a contemporary of Jesus, is first credited with saying, 'Home is where the heart is.' This Sunday, our message, “There's No Place Like Home”, will talk about what we mean by 'home', where we find it, and how we really can come home again. We'll explore why that's so vitally important as we prepare to put another year behind us and walk into a new one full of promise.

What if all year long we chose to follow Mary's lead by "treasuring and pondering" the miracle of Christmas in our hearts, too? How will our lives reveal that we truly believe in Jesus and trust Him with all that we are and all that we have?
