Too often our discussions about worship boil down to the question, “What kind of worship do I like?” so that we miss the real question about the kind of worship the Father seeks. This seminar will attempt to explore that second question by outlining a brief biblical theology of worship, and to unpack some of the ways that understanding can enrich our experience and practice of worship.

John (our morning Bible teacher this year) has led worship in local church and conference contexts, and has a long term interest in the theology and practice of worship. He is the author of the book “The Message of Worship” (IVP)

Louise is a cognitive behavioural therapist whose Master’s degree examined the effects of caring for a loved one with dementia. Dementia is caused by damage to the brain. Each case is unique – a combination of the pathology, the individual’s personality and their spirituality. This seminar looks at proven principles of care and dispels some of the myths surrounding the disease and its treatment. It also looks at how churches can best support ‘dementia families’ and a ‘Brain and Soul Boosting’ programme being used by hospital chaplains, families and churches.

In this seminar we will be exploring how we find strength when we feel weak and how we keep running the race God has set before us, even when we feel weary. We will look together at how we live with the reality of finding resilience and strength in God even when our circumstances don’t seem to be changing. This seminar will be a time we “keep it real” as well taking time to discover together what tools we can have at the ready when we hit the hard times and how we top up our tanks in the good times. This is a time we will look at how we can thrive and not just survive.

Without power, leaders can do nothing, but power can be destructive when misused, even when a leader has no intention to harm others. This seminar will identify signs and stages of misuse of power and propose practical measures to minimise the potential of mishandling it or abusing others.
