Jesus gave himself fully over to the work God was doing through his death on the cross. We are called to do the same - to give ourselves totally to God. What does it mean for us to give ourselves entirely over to God and the work he is doing in us and through us?

As Jesus was being crucified one the last things he said was a prayer for the people who were killing him. Jesus does the unthinkable, extending forgiveness by seeing even his executioners as people made in the image of God. How do we receive this kind of forgiveness and how do we offer it to others?

Terrence Gadson speaks

"The glory of God is a human being fully alive." Over time we can buy into lies and accusations about ourselves that can destroy the work God wants to do in us. Jesus' teaching that we encounter today is meant to combat those lies. Jesus teaches us to see ourselves as God sees us so that we may experience the reality that God's glory is us becoming fully alive.

The Israelites were often offended by the message Jesus preached. They thought he would be different. Will our response to Jesus be the same as theirs? If we want to experience the power of God in and through our lives, we have to be willing to be confronted by Jesus.

So often what we put our hope in doesn't deliver on what it promised. We look back and grieve the brokenness of our past. We look ahead and fear the unknowns of our future. What if there are some broken places and hidden fears that only Jesus can heal.

This past Monday we celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. But today we are going to take a hard look at how far we still have to go.

"Will I have enough?" "Will I be enough?" "Will I ever do enough?" These are the questions that most of us face in the dark moments. Jesus faced these questions too. But how he wrestled with them and the outcomes may be different than we thought.
