As the Israelites grow and become established in a new land they quickly begin comparing themselves to other nations and decide they need a king. But anxious people often produce anxious kings. Our world is not too different today. Where do our worries and fears come from and what do we do with our anxiety?

Eventually we will all experience hardship, challenge and grief. In these moments will we choose to escape or engage? How we respond to hard times will determine whether Hannah or Eli's story will become our story.

Who are your really? Many people live their entire lives without knowing who they are. Instead of living out their own story, they live someone else's. God wants to help all of us take off the masks we've constructed so that Jesus can begin writing a new story in and through our lives.

Today as we remember the story God has written in and through our church over the past 4 years at Swift Schoo, we also consider our own story. How do we find our stories in the story of God? And what does this mean today?

The new chosen people find themselves enslaved in Egypt, a place of hopelessness and helplessness. It is often in our darkest moments when all seems lost that God is working to create a way forward

The story continues with Joseph - someone who did almost everything right but still ends up defeated. In our greatest defeat, will we give up hope, take control, or listen for God's voice to do the next right thing we know to do.

We pick up the story in total chaos, but amazingly God isn't finished with creation. Instead God isn't finished with creation. Instead God decides to restore it from within - through a person that will become a people. But what do you do when you can't "see" the promises of God? What do you do with unfulfilled longings? Do you take matters into your own hands or do you trust God?
