Today is full of opportunity. God is always at work. Do you have the strength to endure? Psalm 51:10-12 asks, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast and right spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me."

Sunday Sermon for August 2, 2020 by Pastor Phillip Greene based in Psalm 139. What are we looking for? How are we seeking God? David contemplates the beauty and complexity of life and asks of God, "Search Me! O God, and see if there is any wicked way in me...Lead me in the way everlasting!" Are you willing to make that kind of commitment to God?

Love is a choice. Either you love someone or you don't...you choose. John 15:12-13 says, "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one's life for one's friend."

The Bible promises us that God will guide us if we let Him. He wants to teach us! Our job is to listen and learn. Psalm 25:12 says, "Who, then, are those who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose."

Silence is golden. Silence is one of the best things we can find to grow our relationship with God. Psalm 37:7 says, "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him."

Do we know what it means to take up our cross and follow Christ? Do we know what God requires of us? Micah 6:8 tells us, "He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

Life is an adventure in problem-solving...but how will you choose to address them? Psalm 34:19 reminds us, "The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all."

The past is something we cannot change, no matter how hard we may try. Have you made peace with your past? Isaiah 43:18-19 reminds us, "Forget the former things: do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."

Anger leads to impulsive nature and that impulse leads to poor decisions. We cannot let our anger get the best of us. James 1:19-20 reminds us, "My dear brothers and sisters, take not of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires."
